September 20, 201411 yr Finally working on the cracked engine case from early this summer. Bought a new alu cases and have moved everything over exept for some new bearings. When putting the engine back into the frame this is what I get. Rear and front bolt in place, but the middle bolt hole is at least 5 mm out of line. How do I deal with this? September 20, 201411 yr Cut end of mont off get 2 pieces of plate to make new mounts drill bolt up and weld to frame you might be able to get away with 2 washers welded on but if not confident get someone to do it with fabrication experience or good mechanic
September 20, 201411 yr Find a shop that has the ability to move it back. Or make your own frame jig and pull it. Almost all gassers do this, but since you have just replaced the cases I would be cautious of just forcing it back together.
September 20, 201411 yr Author My brother came along to discuss this, and thats what we ended up with. Must be a fabrication error this, and proably the reason the engine cases broke in the first place. If something has bendt this would have been looking different I think. Well... must find a good mechanic then.. Jan

September 20, 201411 yr You could remove the motor and put the skid plate on first. Next time leave the skid plate on.
September 21, 201411 yr Author What would that gain? It was like this before taking the skid plate off. Was like this when taking the motor out the first time too. Hence why the mounts were broke in the first place. -Jan
September 21, 201411 yr I would say the bash plate has straightened itself a little here, there is no way that it would have gone together in the first place like that, there is simply not enough give for it to be force fitted.
September 21, 201411 yr Can you get it to line up without the front engine bolt? Are there any cracks/flaking paint round the headstock indicating movement to pull the front mount out of line which would go some way to explain why the bash plate doesn't fit as well Can't see how the lower mount could move back that much but the front down tubes could Edited September 21, 201411 yr by huski
September 21, 201411 yr Author Tried to remove the front bolt. Got the lower mount closer, but not close enough. And then it was way out of line in front. Havent found any cracks anywhee.. Edited September 21, 201411 yr by jandyb
