Mont Fan No Work. Manx 2 Day Coming Up!

Featured Replies

hello. can anyone please help. out today on mont 315r. fan not working. big overheating. anyone know what its likely to be? meant to be involved with manx 2 day next weekend. got to get bike sorted. thanks

The thermostat might be knackered. Or it could be something to do with the fan mechanism or even the motor. If it is the thermostat, find it, cut the wires and twist them together, doing that the fan will be on permanently.

Thats all i can think of.

Disconnect leads from thermostat.

Start bike and connect wires.

If the fan runs, you need a thermostat.

If fan doesn't run, check wires for voltage (one should have it) by hooking a meter to wire and ground (or use test light, or scrape wire along ground and look for spark, or get your whole body wet and hold wire in your mouth).

If no voltage, check wiring.

If yes voltage, you probably need a fan.

Permanently connecting wires is a good way to get home without overheating, but it's not a long-term (or even medium-term) fix.

could be that your thermostat has broken and you need a new one that is what was wrong with my fan when it wasn`t workin and my bike overheated just the same

my last experience of fan not working on my '04 model caused by low water level, refill and it works again.

well since i started this i replaced the fan motor. simple job. it worked for about a day. blagged a go in manx two day trial on sunday and after first two sections of the day the fan packed in AGAIN. its the fan motor again. can it be something else breaking them. theyre not cheap. am a bit worried about buying another motor just for it to break again. has any one experienced this?
