November 19, 201411 yr Thinking of sliming down my 240. Are there any existing tanks that retro fit without too much alteration? I know that a chap down south will custom make one but I've heard conflicting stories about their durability???
November 19, 201411 yr well at the moment fantic fans have two choices three perhaps.. stick with what you ve got..ask a bespoke alloy tank maker to make up something for you ( i understand that they cost circa 360 and its 12/18 weeks wait) there are also a couple of makers of 'fibreglass style' tanks i use that phrase but clearly the ones been made are quite sophisticated today so they dont rot in the fuel and are thus no longer the cheap and cheery alternative. perhaps you could ask the chap who makes the tlr200 replica tanks to' knock something up' he uses a small alloy tank for the fuel and then uses fibreglass as a shroud/cover for the tank seat and side panels and these would be a cracking solution for the modern look but in keeping with the original style. i for one would certainly have one as his tlr stuff is pretty good
November 19, 201411 yr I have used one of the new replica tanks from the chap darn south, and in the four years I have since had it , have had no problems what so ever. It never gets drained of petrol so I always speak as I find.. Touching wood as we speak.
November 19, 201411 yr Have you seen these options? http://www.delaytrial.com/delay/catalogo/fantic-y-clasicas/ Understand your worries on durability but I've not heard of any of the current makers of fiberglass tanks having problems with modern fuel. I believe they are now ethanol resistant but I'm sure if you contact them they'll be able to reassure you.
November 19, 201411 yr The Chap you speak of made me this one , And I've got one of his "standard " tanks that sits on a shelf now , due to the signatures on it ...No issue at all with either unit , Great Stuff ! Glenn
November 19, 201411 yr Much prefer the tank , seat and side panel arrangement... whilst understand the thinking, of the all in one... to me.. it does nothing for the bike and smacks of trying to be too clever. It seems that Fantic's also are not the only bikes trying to re invent themselves. Personal preference and opinion of course.
November 19, 201411 yr IT's actually a cosmetics thing , but as I had a 300 seat and a skinny tank beforehand , I can vouch that the current setup is slimmer and smother while riding ... Glenn
November 19, 201411 yr Every little bit you lower the "seat" helps with turning the bike, easier to cant the bike over when the saddle doesn't touch your leg,I recently went back to the stock seat from just a flat plastic panel on the seatrails and can definitely tell a difference.I will be going right back to the flat "saddle" during this winters refresh for sure. If there was an option of Glenn's setup with a small alloy tank underneath that however would be my #1 choice!
November 20, 201411 yr I used these tanks on my fantics, looks good and reliable qualtity....http://www.classictrial.co.uk/fantictanksidepanels.html here on a 200 in 240 frame combinated with a 300 seat : Edited November 20, 201411 yr by hendrik

Should I put it in a box and send it to you ? your welcome to it as, I'm never gonna use it at this point ! Glenn
November 20, 201411 yr A standard tank off a 200 is slimmer than a 240 but not as slim as the fiberglass, as long as the fiberglass tank has been treated with a liner such as Caswells they should be ok,
November 20, 201411 yr Doug , I've got a pristine 300 seat on a shelf ... Should I put it in a box and send it to you ? your welcome to it as, I'm never gonna use it at this point ! Glenn We could definitely use it up here, either myself or my good Buddy JimmyZ who I've gotten turned on to Fantic,he found a pristine 240 after riding mine plus now he's also picked up an absolute Rat 200 that we need to get ridable.still have my address?
November 22, 201411 yr Yep , just checked my address book , it's still there . I'll get it sent asap .... Glenn And if it's a forward kick 200 pro , you guys might like it better than the 240's !!! Edited November 22, 201411 yr by axulsuv
