Knocking On Beta 290

Featured Replies

I just started my bike after about a year stood still started no worries, but got a knocking noise ? Changed piston rings and top bearing but still makes same noise any ideas what next ? Or any one recommend a good shop for rebuild thanks

I had a 2005 that sat for too long without being started and the main bearings sounded like they were crushing rocks. It ran great but I had the bearings replaced immediately because running great was not likely to continue. You have to start them once in a while just to keep things oiled. I like to start my bike at least once a month in the winter leaving the choke on until it starts to gag on the rich mixture just to keep the bottom end lubed.

Just curious why you would tear the engine down looking for a noise

Then change only a top brg and a set of rings

Did you inspect and measure anything?, spin the crank, feel and listen to the main brgs etc
