March 18, 201511 yr Just came across this http://www.fanticmotor.asso.fr/r10l.htm Rather than flatten the frame rail just below the flywheel. He removed the the entire bottom portion of the frame tube; both of them. It seems a pretty massive bash plate has been added to get the rigidity back. Good idea? Bad idea? I don't speak any French so the pictures had to tell me the story, looks like a nice build out...

April 11, 201511 yr WELL ... It just inspired me to buy a running 84 300 motor and top mount bracket for my 240 ... April 12, 201511 yr Author I really like the power delivery from my 300 and love the way my 240 handles. It stands to reason that a 340 would be pretty sweet at least for a lard ass like me. I've accumulated all the parts to build one and am thinking it will be next project (or after the next--just got a SWM TL350 Jumbo). I am curious though about the idea of cutting out the frame section below the flywheel vs. flattening it out for clearance. I like the idea of it but it's also a little scary to cut out a chunk. Glenn, if you decide to do the engine swap be sure to post some pics
April 12, 201511 yr My 240 is one of the last ones , and I've been led to believe it has the same larger outer cases as the 300's . So I think the dimensions are about the same , with any luck I won't have to mod the frame except for adding the head support . Time will tell when the motor is here . I'll trial fit the motor , make it work , ride it , then take it all apart and go thru the motor if needed and finally paint/powdercoat the frame (that I keep putting off ) ... Maybe by the time I retire , I'll have a competitive 340 ... Glenn

April 21, 201511 yr What Are your plans for the Airbox and Exhaust? On *HWMNBM's sight I think it advises against using 240 components with a 30x reed valve engines,don't know about piston port 300s though. BTW,Oko that was on my 240 works even better on my 309 without any rejetting,haven't really ridden it on the main jet enough to truly evaluate,309 is gonna get a makeover moderately soon. *HWMNBM---He who must not be mentioned---
