April 28, 201511 yr 2011Beta 300 Evo 4T. Replaced the fan switch bung in the radiator (thermostat?), still does not run. I can by-past the switch, hot wire the fan direct and it runs continuous, so the fan motor is fine. Any other ideas? Many Thanks
April 29, 201511 yr Well, yea, since you asked! 1- the thermo switch you put in is no good 2- you did not put coolant back init 3- the pump is not circulating hot water 4- you have a poor electrical connection 5- you did not run it long enough for the water to get hot
April 29, 201511 yr copemech is on the right track. Since you have already changed out the thermo switch, bench test the one that you have removed with boiling water and an ohm meter. If the switch is operating correctly that is not your problem. Is the engine hot and the radiator is not hot the coolant is not being circulated, time to check the water pump. If all the above things are correct the problem is likely to be an electrical connection, sometimes the source of these connection problems on the Evo 4t are at the regulator/rectifier which is mounted on top of the motor directly bellow the carb. Good luck, and please let us know what your troubles were.
May 26, 201511 yr Author Going through all of those suggestions now...I have recently replaced the impeller blade (last year) as the previous owner did not know it was missing...being plastic the motor ran hot and probably melted it. Th only item that I can think of would be the rectifier...but wouldn't that effect the fan hot wired too? Love the bike, just getting tired off the motor issues.
November 14, 201510 yr Rectifier...???.... why would you need AC voltage on your motorcycle? A rectifier changes DC voltage to AC....maybe you mean the stator....
