1998 Gg 270 Convert To 280?

Featured Replies

Hi, I have acquired an old 270 (pre pro model) but it won't pull the skin off a rice pudding! Probably due to the bad piston rattle it has. So I'm looking at a new piston kit but also have the possibility of a complete 280 top end from the later 2000-2002 model. My question is will the whole top end swap like for like? May be some re-jetting I presume. Also is the Keihn carb option a good idea on these?

If the top end is off the newer pro type motor then I very much doubt it will fit, needs to be the same generation

Not 100% sure that there is a capacity difference between the 270 & 280

No the top I'm looking at is from a 2000 model not pro. Good point about the actual bore size, could of been a marketing thing but I'm pretty sure the 270 was a 256cc and the 280 was a 272cc, but thats just from memory?

Pretty sure it will fit.

According to partprogram the conrod is the same on the 250-280 models. So the difference is in the diameter of the piston/cylinder.
