So what is the score, can I just simply bore out a 250 barrel and replate.

I know why don't I buy a 300 bike or barrel, thought I would get in first.

How about the ports are they in the same position on all three capacities. 250, 280 and 300.

No you need a 300 barrel

I've just done the opposite to a 2011 300 Gas Gas and just changed barrel, piston and head insert it's really straight forward so going your way should be no problem

yes you have to use the correct size barrel piston etc. i think gasgas uk do a cylinder exchange service. where you gave them your old parts and pay abit and you get the correct size or whatever one you wanted.  give gguk a call and you will get an answer.

or alternatively give R and T a call (south yorkshire) , they have it on their website as doing it

No I still have it to put back to original state when I eventually sell it

It's cheaper to tune the 250 than buy a new barrel and piston. How much power do you want? You can make a 250 more lively than a standard 300 if needed.

 Funny, he never even said what year!  Without knowing what he has you cannot give advice. A newer 250 runs very good.
