250 Mono With Chrome Frame?

Featured Replies

I've just picked up a 1985 59n model ty. It has a chrome frame and Swingarm, I've never seen one like it before and wondered if it was some sort of special or just done by someone who wanted something a bit different? The chap I bought it off thought it had been like it from new. I've bought it as a winter project and wanted to get it all powder coated and looking nice. Has anyone seen one like this?

Cheers

Chroming the frame was not uncommon, I saw at least a couple of riders who had it done (North Lancs area). They used to cut off the unnecessary brackets and polish up the welds that tended to be a bit rough and spattery, then get the frames chromed.

My TY250R had a chromed frame,it also had the previous owners postcode stamped into it in various places over the bike. Excellent bike, but I can't say I wish I still had it.
