December 11, 201510 yr My mates TXT 250 has a problem This started when i noticed just above the kickstart spindle its punched a hole in the clutch casing (pic below) as a temporary fix i used some liquid metal stuff to plug the hole and set about trying to figure out why the friction spring has done this. I took everything apart and seemed to have got it back together how it should be, filled it with oil and went to kick it over it kicked once and then when it recoiled it jammed completely. Anyone know whats up with it?
December 11, 201510 yr I`ve seen plenty of the early pro`s crack the case right there, but that is a tidy little hole. Check out jim snell`s gas gas repair video`s on you tube to get the picture of how it`s supposed to go together. It is hard sometimes to get the assembly all the way in, that is what appears happened as too much shaft is exposed. Edited December 11, 201510 yr by lineaway
December 13, 201510 yr Author Ok have watched the video so jut gong to re assemble as shown and try again. Hope no damage to engine as it must have been running dangerously low on oil
December 14, 201510 yr Have seen/had them cracked, not broken. Make sure to put back the kickstart mechanism like it supposed to. Maybe replace the springs (the big one and the one sticking out of the case in your picture. I had some problems once, replacing that last mentioned clip solved it. Also check the kick gears for damage.
January 2, 201610 yr Author Replaced kick gear, spring and and a couple other small parts, bit of metal weld over hole kicking like a dream now
