August 19, 201610 yr Bike has started spluttering and backfiring and when revved hard it belches black smoke and flames at times come out e silencer. Any ideas on what's happening.
August 19, 201610 yr A little more info maybe helpful? What year is bike What carb? Dellorto or Keihin ( have you drained float bowel for water / contamination ) How long have you owned bike? Have you changed the spark plug? What type of gas, race fuel or pump gas? GasGas bikes after longer rides on fast roads, the mid pipe will catch fire and burn excess oil and sometimes melt plastic end cap.
August 19, 201610 yr Author 2014 pro racing had it from new. Fuel is from pump. Not race fuel have used octane booster in the past but stopped using it. Have been running it with a bit too much 2t oil in the fuel. But now running 62/65 ml per 5 litres as advised by GasGas mechanic. No3 slide in the keihin pwk28 carb. New plug installed as well. Inline fuel filter fitted and have just set float height to standard setting as they were a bit off. Edited August 19, 201610 yr by gasgasshetland
August 20, 201610 yr Have you recently done anything new. Powder coat frame? Clean bike, ride in a pond. ETC. Otherwise it`s a new stator. Edited August 20, 201610 yr by lineaway
August 20, 201610 yr Flywheel woodruff key is first choice. Happened to me on my racing couple of years back. Sounds terminal but isn,t.
