October 30, 20169 yr My bike overheated today, the fan motor failed and it dumped all the coolant into the gearbox. It didn’t seize but it got very hot!!! Would this have done any damage to the piston/bore?
October 31, 20169 yr Dumping into the cylinder and dumping into the tranny is two different problems. Good luck.
October 31, 20169 yr Your water pump seal let go ... Fix that and try it out , or just pull the cylinder and inspect ... but the water pump is the most likely culprit ....
November 1, 20169 yr the fan sensor will not work if all the coolant has leaked out to yhe trans as it has no coolant to sense.
November 1, 20169 yr Author It was the fan that caused the problem, I came off and broke the connector plug! the heat and pressure caused the seal to fail, its also broke the impeller Don't know what hurts the most, the money to repair it or my foot from the fall! November 1, 20169 yr Or your ego... I always think these things wouldn't happen if I was a better rider - big blow to the ego when they do (and they always do ).
