Losing Water On My 4T

Featured Replies

I noticed I was losing water when the engine is running , I checked my oil and seems ok,so I checked my water pump....... I removed the impeller and noticed behind there is a rusty coloured bearing shell that doesn't look right ...... is there supposed to be a bearing because it looks to me that it was one....... it's a beta evo 4t 2014 any help would be appreciated cheers folks

Was it losing water from underneath the water pump housing? When the impeller seal and shaft wear, coolant runs out of the weep hole down the outside of the cylinder.

I've managed to get the seal out but there is very slight damage to the housing would greese be ok with the seal or is there something better I can use ?

PUD    Did you damage the housing or was it already damaged?   There are two seals in there.  One to keep transmission oil out of the cooling circuit and one inverted to keep water out of the transmission.  Did you find the remnant parts of the seal?

Seals are meant to be friction fit, grease will lower the friction.
