When fitting progressive springs which way up do they go ? tight wound coils to the top or the bottom ?

do one of each, that will balance the difference out then.

Does it actually make any difference ?

It does with valve springs but that's more to do with the added inertia of the denser coils I guess. Not that a Fantic has valve springs. So I don't know. See above, not a bad idea.

If my memory works , Tight coils to the top ... But I don't think it makes much difference . I seem to remember some action and reaction thing I learned somewhere ...

I have always seen them at the top and I have always put them at the top on my bikes.

But heighten the centre of gravity.

I like one each way, you can only be half wrong.

Cut the tight coils off and fit a spacer !

LOL so im now none the wiser. Not sure if i should go with progressive springs or not and also not sure if i do if it makes any difference which way up they are   

 

Perhaps a different question? Has anybody fitted the Magicals and noticed a difference and if so better or not ? 

I fitted magicals to my swm (marzocchi's) to replace tired springs. they have been excellent, but you do need a spacer.

I fitted Magicals, along with 7.5 wt oil, rather than 10 wt, to my TY mono and was really surprised how much difference they made. One of the best upgrades I have done. And yes, you are meant to have the tighter wound part of the springs at the top.

I know of a few that have fitted the Magicals and they have said its a great upgrade.

I'm getting some for my Beamish, after Christmas , the stock ones are tired 37 year olds
