Advice please

Just noticed a slight fuel leak at the rear of the tank on my 250-03 pro, it could be where the seat unit has been rubbing or maybe on a weld. I was thinking of repairing with plastic metal but would welcome other suggestions / advice.

I have just had this problem with my 2004 280 Pro.

My dad bought some tank sealer from Frosts, not sure what he did but it has worked.

We had previously had it welded.

I had the same problem my 05 280 Pro. I used chemical metal which worked for a few months and then when it leaked again I simply used the sma e method again. I think a new tank is around

ive had my tank welded about 10 times.....you'll get used to it!!

sealing it from the outside is always eventually going to fail,

a commercial internal sealer is a certain fix and if you can get the white sealer, sold by the bike shop in leeds whose name I forget you can very clearly see the level of fuel left in tank, and I used a marker pen on mine so that i knew the exact quantity of fuel in the tank, handy for those premixes that are more guesswork than science , its also very easy to see if you have any debris etc in the tank once done.

best bet is to get it welded if possible ,otherwise repair with araldite or similar every few months. a new tank is about

I'd rather put up with a leaky Mikuni carb on a Beta :santa1:

Anyone tryed to figure out what causes the problem in the first place...it would make it easier to get a permanent fix. There must be some stress on the tank from somewhere if it is cracking a weld or rubbing a hole in the metal!

where exactly are the leaks appearing. anyone got any photos?? It would be nice to figure out before it happens to mine.
