February 21, 20197 yr What could the issue be? Piston and rings needs replacing? Crank seal? Any other ideas? Cheers
February 21, 20197 yr Sounds like a crank seal. You can usually smell the difference between 2stroke and gearbox oil Edited February 21, 20197 yr by faussy
February 21, 20197 yr Could the white smoke be in fact steam? I seem to recall reading that white "smoke" could be indicative of a head (o-ring) leak into the combustion chamber. Perhaps do a quick assessment of your coolant level?
February 22, 20197 yr As above, white smoke is usually water. It is possible that the cylinder head O rings have hardened up and are leaking allowing water into the cylinder. Have a check also on the clutch cover sight glass to see if the oil in the gearbox/clutch looks clean, or is a milky colour, indicating that the water pump shaft and seal are leaking. Bye, Peter B.
