Deep frame scratches 4rt

Featured Replies

I was wondering the best way to deal with some deep gashes / scapes on my silver 4rt frame , who’s tried what? Feel gutted really, it’s a 2018 bike 5 months old,

No I don’t want to be going that extreme, I was thinking more wet and dry paper and t-cut to make it look less obvious. I just want it to look it’s best , yes I use it. I use my car every day but I still wash it every week.

Knock the burrs off with a file? I would be more worried about the damage your coil is taking, the bottom mount in the rubber is already bent as well?

Its not that bad. Carefully take off the high points with a very small file or fine Emery cloth. Wet flat damaged area with 400/600 wet /dry paper. Then use a dark red Scotch Brite pad to recreate brushed satin finish. Wont be perfect, but should be quite acceptable. Need to check out all of the other stuff you've twatted. Coils don't like impact damage.

Cheers for that , everything else is ok and been checked

Best fit a trickbits  coil carbon look a like cover  cheap and effective

Surely this is new bike time! Yours is wrecked and uneconomical to repair, if new bike is a bit pricey you can swap it with my immaculate 2012 300 Evo with no bash marks. I’ll take away the battered 2018 and even collect for free!

Now that’s a good deal?

I bought a new left side frame rail, was about £40 a few years ago - pretty cheap for alloy I thought
