April 16, 20197 yr Hi! Have a 1976 Cota 348 just started jumping out of first gear. Never been apart. Comment and suggestions welcome. Next event for me is Barber Vintage Festival in October.
April 16, 20197 yr How long have you had it? Are you sure it is actually going into gear? My 348 requires a special technique to get it fully into first gear. If I don't do it, it goes back into neutral while I'm riding.
April 17, 20197 yr Author It seams to go to to first but if i tap the shiftier after I start moving it will some times seam to click again. I assumed it is backing partially out of gear and then after the tap it returns. All of the other gears work so I don't think it is out of adjustment. I think the detent spring and ball are worn and maybe a spring spacer on it may help. Any one have other ideas?
