I will give it a read thanks

These engines were designed when the oils were what was available at the time. Now modern oils can be used more sparingly, so the mix ratios can be reduced. However those newer ....technical.... oils can still be mixed at the old ratios 40 or 50:1 purely for peace of mind....I run my 348 on 50:1 synthetic.

I use Silkolene comp 2 which is synthetic

I did use Castrol power 1 which also worked well

it's also worth noting that Castrol and some other manufactures state a maximum of 50:1

Thanks again guys , I'll drop the oils sometime this week , and hope to have a ride out over the Christmas period ?

The guy who does most of the reboring and such work around here, maintains that bikes with a cast iron liner can't go lower than 25:1 as the clearence has to be more than a coated bore and the gap is too large for the diluted oil to fill
