January 25, 200620 yr iv got 2 rounded of screw heads on my carb float boal, i got 2 out but 2 are badly rounded off, anyone know how to get them out
January 25, 200620 yr Hammer and a puch or there is a tool that is very simular to a drill bit that works really well dont know what its called (screw extractor bits maybe) sell them in the DIY, set of three.
January 25, 200620 yr Hacksaw accross the head to create a new slot suitable for a flat head screw driver.
January 25, 200620 yr If all the abve posts don't succeed, drill the heads off the screws with a drill bit 1mm bigger than the thread diameter. With the heads off, remove float bowl and unsrew the bolts. They will come out easily.thers no pressure on them with the heads removed.Good luck
January 26, 200620 yr And don't forget to replace the cross-heads with stainless allen socket cap bolts! Makes life much easier in the future...
January 30, 200620 yr I use stainless cap head screws from marine suppliers for some of these jobs, but remember, that cap head screws hold dirt....so if the screw is in a place that collects muck and needs to be worked on....normal slot screws or bolts are better.
January 30, 200620 yr a dab of grease or silicone in the allen socket keeps the dirt out. And unlike a philips screw, you can still get the allen screws out later. kcj
