March 12, 20206 yr Hi all I've just bought a 1996 beta techno it had not run for 5 years the seller fuel it cannot it running. Due to having seized brakes which have rebuilt. Its time to start the bike. I've replaced the air filter and spark plug The bike kicked over second time but a oily black fuel mix as come out of the exhaust it seems to be a fair amount As anyone any ideas what this can be and how to resolve it Regards Wayne
March 12, 20206 yr Use the bike! The only way to get rid of the build up of gunk is to get the bike nice and hot. Or take the exhaust apart and clean it out (not always so easy).

March 13, 20206 yr remove the exhaust remove packing hang it and burn it out with a heat gun. i had the same problem with my nephews beta, I called beta UK for advise and was told to use a good quality semi synthetic 2 stroke oil NOT fully synthetic as trials bikes tend not to run at high revs enough to burn off the oil. (72ml oil to 5lt fuel) Seems to have worked for me think there is a post somewhere on here with the same advice also youtube has some videos
March 13, 20206 yr Author Hi Thanks for the advice but when I kicked it over last night there seems to be loads running out where the rear box meets and it smells really strong of petrol. Could it be the float in the carb Should I just keep running it until it gets red hot. Regards Wayne
March 13, 20206 yr Yep not stationary though, a proper ride in the countryside under load. Then you’ll also have an idea if the bike is too rich,
