March 17, 20206 yr Totally depends on the condition of the bike and the price, parts are still readily available, (at least in Canada), good bike to start with IF in good condition. My buddy had one and put 100s of hours on it, that's why i got one in 99. But generally the newer the better. You could spend a lot of money and time replacing wheel, swingarm bearings, pivot bearings, fork seals, headset bearings, sprockets, chain, rebuilding brake cylinders....
March 17, 20206 yr OK it's a mono shock, fluid cooled and disc braked so it's an 'early modern' from a good manufacturer, so that's all a plus. But due to the age of the bike spares could be a problem. The general advice to the first time buyer is, a clean bike in decent condition, and as modern as possible. There are at least two more modern Betas trials bikes ranges, the Rev 3 and Evo respectively.
March 17, 20206 yr Wouldn't go for a bike that old,generally they're worn out and beyond economic rebuild even if free.All down to the maintenance it's had,if everything still works like it should and it's cheap it would get you started

March 17, 20206 yr Author He’s asking $1,200 looks decent shape but didn’t know how much performance i would he loosing vs a 2006ish sherco ? Is there big upgrades during this time frame? Or are they close to same bike?
