January 30, 200422 yr Hello all Looking to get a trials bike to give me more ride opportunities. I've located an 01 Sherco 2.5, 01 & 02 Scorpa's, and a Gasser TXT280 Pro. All in good condition. All for around the same dollars plus or minus a few hundred. Don't know enough about any of them to make a decision. Some are from private parties, others from dealers. I'm stuck in Analysis Paralysis Heard the GG pro's have some clutch Trans issues. I've heard Scorpa's are reliable with the yamaha eng. And they really look industrial too. Any help would be welcome!
January 30, 200422 yr Give them all a try if the owners will let you.The one that is most comfortable to you and mechanically sound is the best bet.All the brands are good.Sworn to fun, loyal to none!
January 30, 200422 yr Astro has the best suggestion. Also look for signs of how the bike was cared for. Ask general questions like "how often do you have to change the oil on these things?" and "when were the suspension, steering head and swingarm bearings last cleaned and lubed?" Some early '02 Pros did have clutch and shift drum issues, although they were easily fixed with updated parts. Be sure to ask if any updates had been done and what they were (check for receipts if necessary). Still, Astrolounger's method is absolute best, particularly with the mounts your referring to, as they are quite different to actually ride.
February 3, 200422 yr I personally would go with the sherco, though everyone has different opinions of what is good and bad. But its more important to go with the one that you like the best, so follow astrolounger's advice and test them all if possible. Best wishes, Pete. (one-dab-or-two)
