New to me, beautiful restored bike.  I need help checking the timing.  TDC then counterclockwise until piston drops 3mm???  Stick something round through the fly wheel into the hole stator???  I believe it has all new rev3 ignition.  It has an intermittent knock like detonation.  I know it could be lots of things, but this is the easiest to check.

Any better kick starters???  Its short and I need to get my girl to be able to kick it over.

I have 50 years wrenching on everything.
