LSMO
Does anyone know the ratio of the AVIS-VDO speedometer drive used on the Model 85 Alpina?
LSMO
Can anyone tell me if there is supposed to be a felt ring between the fixed and the rotating parts of the drive?
pschrauber
Yep to any meanical driving gear should be a felt ring soaked with an oel grease mixture btw. The drive to the Sherpa and Alpina is located at the rear not the front to my personal knowledge. Then the gear consist of a hyperboloid gears so it is impossible to tell you the geraing. These rear drive speedometer drives are sadly very rare. I am frequenlty looking for speedo gears front especially but too look at rear ones. I only found one used speedo gear in good shape in the last ten years wich I now have as a spare to myy 199b so far...!!!
Bloomfield
A while ago I discovered a moped parts place in California- treatland.tv -they have an incredible selection of parts, many of which are useful beyond mopeds. While looking for something in the handlebars/controls section I noticed they had a lot of speedo drives, including many AVIS-VDO and they are quite good at listing things like axle size and thread size in their descriptions.
