Novice seeking advice on GasGas bike for sale

Featured Replies

There’s a bike for sale advertised as a “GasGas 198cc trials bike” 2012 model.

I can’t trace any information on such a bike. Is this an error in the advert?

thanks in hope.

thats a oval frame chrome gasser ended 2008.

believe they did a 200cc (was actually 167cc) until about 2005

id put a guess on at 2005 200, it will say on the chassis sticker

id check rear mudguard availability before buying.

also looks like the airbox is either broken or missing bolts .

engines are good bottom end of the engine is still almost identical on the new 2023.

Oh, that’s quite a discrepancy! I’ve asked for confirmation of the model, and if it is really as old then it’ll not be worthwhile my travelling to view.

many thanks

That's not a 2012 model.

At best, it is dressed up in 2006 graphics. The frame number will give you the the correct year of manufacture. i.e. If there is a letter "G" in the middle of the number then it's a 2006. or if it has an "F" then it's a 2005.

Out of interest have would you be willing to share the advertised purchase price?

If they are claiming its a 2012 when its definitely not (don't think a 200 version was available after 2006) then the price should be much more reduced in comparison. Below is an example of one advertised as a 2006

I would not touch that with a bargepole.  Good 2002-2008 TXTPros exist, parts are still available for them, but that does not look like a good one.
