December 17, 20232 yr My husband has just bought my 6 year old a Gas Gas txt boy 50 2002. When he purchased the bike the seller got it working and when we got it home my husband got it working fairly quickly, however after it had been turned off we couldn't get it kick started again. We ve had the bike to a mechanic and he's checked things like, the carb (fully stripped), the spark, fresh fuel and it still won't kick start.. please can someone help??
December 17, 20232 yr It could be a wide variety of things. Your local mechanic will be in a much better position to diagnose and repair the problem than suggestions from any message board. In the spirit of trying to be helpful I will suggest: 1. Spark, but at the at the wrong time implies a sheared flywheel key. 2. Choke (enrichener) faulty or not being engaged. 3. Fuel tap not actually turned on (or blocked). The lever is typically parallel to the direction of flow. 4. It could also be something much more difficult to diagnose, like an intermittent ignition system. Edited December 17, 20232 yr by konrad
December 20, 20232 yr The boy had a bad grounding problem. Take apart any electrical and clean up. All the bolts on the magneto if you can get the flywheel off. Just clean anything you can get to.
