98-99 Model 270 Vs 00-01 Txt 280

Featured Replies

im thinking of getting one of these bikes and was wanting some peoples opinions on them. and what are the differences in power and power delivery (i like snappy and aggressive) as well as other differences in the machines. also if anyone has pics of their own bikes i would love to see them also thank you

The 270 is definitely more snappy than the 280 and as a consequence is much more likely to spin the rear wheel making it very difficult to ride in bottom gear which is, I believe, a lower ratio than in the later bikes. The 280 has more grunt. You can play with the timing on either to soften or increase the power and response.

If you ride mud, I'd choose the 280, but with one caveat. The 280 TXT air filter arrangement is not very clever and could let mud straight into the airbox if the protective flap became dislodged. The 270 has a single piece rear mudguard and didn't have this problem.

Whichever you get - enjoy!
