Can anyone tell me what the crankcases on an 08 Rev3 were made of please, I seem to recall they are magnesium?

I'm rebuilding one and the cases have corroded badly and so I need to refinish them.

    Magnesium is highly reactive to it, aluminum is not.

    My 2008 had a magnesium side cover that was eaten away by corrosion in the water pump area.  I believe the replacement part was aluminium.
