skippydave
Hi All, Im looking for help for Oset 16 Lithium battery options. In Australia I am having a very difficult time getting my hands on a lithium battery for the Oset16. I have spoken to the Oset importer (under triumph now) and they had no idea what I was talking about which is a little concerning. But I have seen several posts of people wiring 18v drill batteries in series and having great success. I thought I would reach out to this forum and see if anyone can give advice about this being successful or not and what sort of range to expect. I can get more lead acid batteries but I was hoping to get something lithium for extended range so he can at least ride a full trial. Thanks in advance Dave
konrad
It's certainly possible, but will require technical knowledge. The best place to learn about building small lithium-ion batteries is a forum devoted to electric bicycles. Lead-acid batteries have an energy density of 30-50 Wh/kg and specific energy of 20-50 Wh/L. Compare this to lithium-ion batteries, which presently have an energy density of 150-200 Wh/kg and specific energy of 250-670 Wh/L. The improvement will be dramatic!
