Right, its coming up to maintainence time on my first bike 05 280 pro (well the only one that hasnt broken down after a month ! )

And id like to service the forks, while im doing other stuff

My questions are:

-Should i change the fork seals? im happy to, but there not leaking and i know that there relatively inexpensive

-Should i change the dustwiper on the top (i doubt but thought id ask)

-Also Is there a procedure for the tripe clamp installation? i've got the impression there is:

needs to be on a stand? bottom ones tight top loose?... i dont know anyhelp please?

I have a video on how to do them on the 2003 model, and i can't imagine the procedure being any different???

and ill also use decent fork oil,...anyone know the quantities?

well, the bike is on 05, and it use to be serviced at <mention of this company is not permitted on Trials Central> i know this as it came from there, but we got it alittle cheaper as it hadnt been serviced,

after 30 years playing with bikes this has to be the most important lesson to learn and the hardest to learn..

But i just like to do things properly, im a perfectionist like that,

(i may use cockpit shine on my bike after every ride )

But the manual says to change it after 60hrs of use, and i know that im only a novice. I just didnt want the forks to get all manky ***** inside the forks,

Totalshell - thats a good point, but fixing things is just so much fun

Put it this way lad after about 2 hours of taking apart our forks on my bike tonight we were slightly puzzled how to get the oil in the forks whilst the assembly is in ....eventually we have found a way to syringe it through the bleed hole at the top (if its called that), which by the time we worked that out it was getting dark so thats for tommorrow night ...

although i would like to know if this is the correct way to do it or if theres any other way ?

from what i can remember of the dvd, you put it all together,

But the top part of the tube that screws on, just leave that off, well still attached to the spring, and just syringe it in. (where the spring is showing)

then screw on,

May be diff from 03, but then i may have explained that really badly.

Trust me youl know when you do it you cant take it out and do it because you need the spring in to put the nutt back in the bottom .

Secondly you cant take off the top bit without getting it back on which will then lead to taking out the whole thing which means taking out the bottom screw = loosing all your oil again!

we are just going to screw it all up and where the bleed screw or air screw what ever it is we are going to syringe it in that way ... which goes through so i wouldnt bother taking anything out apart from the nut at the bottom , maybe you will have to loosen the top nut so all the oil comes out but dont take everything out theres no point..plus you have to move your bars back .
