Howdy,

Just been flicking though the websites of Montesa and found Apex Sports, and looked at downpipes (As mine need painting) and looked at the prices.

The 97-99 downpipe (Matt Black Painted) Is $156.68, which converted in to roughly

The pound is strong against the dollar at the moment, but you can add a tenner for shipping, I was riding creeks with the owner of Apex yesterday as he is entered in the scottish and owns 40 acre of prime riding with some great creek sections, just about twenty five min drive from my house.

High temp paint can be bought at auto parts stores.

Barbecue or wood/coal stove paint works, too.

It doesn't like to be handled after painting.

I get the part good and hot with a torch, then spray on the paint.

Shall I clean it off a bit with abrasive paper before I apply the paint? Just to get the older stuff off.

I prefer the hand made stainless version :D

All the front pipes fit all the bikes (315 that is)

I got my '99 chromed, but after the bead blasting and chroming it would have been cheaper to buy new. Suggest you call the UK importer and Haven for prices - you may be pleasantly surprised

:D Also keep in mind your friendly neighborhood customs man may add on his little bit of profit too

not if yoiu ask sender to put replacment part under warranty or goods value of $20

I wouldn't bother importing a pipe, like ishy says, customs will bill you import duty. I have had this unpleasant experience before with road bike bits, and they hammered me!!I got one last year from sandifords for about

Always clean down to metal before you paint.

Old paint will peel and take your new paint with it.

Metal won't do that. :D

If you but a chrome pipe, paint the inside with hi-temp paint.

It'll keep the chrome from discoloring.
