Hi,

I've been overhauling a 2000 Rev 3 270 and now need to tighten things back-up. I rang Lampkins who said that there are no-torque values available except for the cylinder head.

I'd just like to know what if any settings people use for the following:

1). Front wheel axle.

2). Fork clamps.

3). Handlebar clamps

4). Swingarm.

5). Brake mounting bolts.

4). Rear axle.

Dont usually torque any of those, dont go mental with tightening you should get a feeling if its tight .Use a four foot long bar and you will strip the threads on everything, just check all the bolts when you go out on the bike every time. Rear disc bolts come loose on Betas every ride nearly, small exhaust bolts next to the kick start and sometimes the sprocket. Worth giving the fork clamps a good turn but stop well before your head goes red!!!!

Could easily strip the brake bolts but they need to be pretty well on as well as the swingarm bolt,

Thanks a lot for that. With 6) I meant the rear axle/spindle bolt. I'll give it a go at 19ft lb's, although it doesn't sound that much. With my KTM it's about 80Nm!!!.

I think he had the question marks after his 6) due too you having two 4)`s rather than a 6) oops!

Ferret, rear disc bolts always come loose, mine chewed a caliper half way through a days riding, check them every fuel up now. Got loctite ordered this week, hope it stops it. Rear bash plate bolts tend to slack off as well

I use the sherco torque settings from the Ryan Young web sight (bike maintainance section) on all our familys bikes havn't stripped a bolt yet. Sheco's Beta's and Scorpa's as well as the ocasional gasgas, saying that my sons stripped two Beta swinging arm bolts by not using the torque wrench!!!!!!

I've noticed the rev 3 swinging arm bolt needs to be 4mm longer so the nut is fully home, the nut on all the rev3's i've seen still have a couple of mm of unused thread to go when tight!!!!

There are also standard torque values for metric bolts in aluminum in most automotive manuals that apply to bikes as well. Based upon the thread size and pitch!
