August 11, 200620 yr I was out on my jtr today weather quite hot bike running for a while, the fan didn't come on once bike seemed to run ok though should I check it further? where would I start? Cheers Steve.
August 12, 200620 yr remove the two wires to the thermostat. somehow tie together. The fan should run constantly. If this works it should be the thermostat. If it does not run, try to push start the fan. Chances are it is the fan as with age they do quit. It could also be the stator or anything in between.
August 12, 200620 yr dont remove any wires just pull the clips off on your thermostat that the wires are connected to and then they attach together do that and put it back on one of the thermostat sides should stay on if its working.

That eliminates a thermostat failure which is the most common thing. If the fan still does not work at this point, it may mean the fan motor is damaged, however it might also mean that the supply to the fan has been lost, perhaps simply the plug becoming disconected or a wire broken. I take it you have checked to see that there is still water in the system? Edited August 12, 200620 yr by scorpa3
August 14, 200620 yr Author Checked it today looks like the fan motor, connected it up to a 12v supply and it only spins if you flick it to get it going. are these motors used in any other bike?
