  1. Great info. Thanks for the time it took to look all that up!... I have been reading everything I can about what everyone says to run sag numbers at... I get a variation... From the Gas Gas website, they seem to reccomend 1/3 rear and 1/6 front working out to be 54.6mm rear and 29.5mm front according to the suspension travel specs I found online for this bike... Poking around Ryan Youngs site, Yes I know its not a gas gas, but should be close he reccomends 60-70mm rear, and 40-50mm front... Quite a differance in settings if you ask me... So I dont know which to shoot for... I have found myself breaking out all my trials DVD"s watching them trying to see how thier bikes are set. My current numbers are Rear end Extended (bike off ground): 603.5mm Me on bike with gear: 500mm Current sag= 103.5mm Front end Extended: 196mm Me on bike: 150mm Current sag = 46mm
  2. Thank you sir... Kind of figured somthing wasnt right.... Parts Ordered...
  3. Checked the Sag numbers on my 05 300 TXT pro the other day, and well Im fatter than I thought. so I cranked down on the rear spring adjuster. and now am looking to throw in some preload spacers in the front forks. I have the fork appart on the bench. (in sides out of the tubes) but cant figure out how to get the spring off of the dampening assembly. Lots of $$ parts in there I dont want to bust. what do I take off to get the spring off the assembly? I notice what looks like a pressed in pin at the bottom as well as a knotched aluminum what looks like a nut. as well as some other stuff UNder the existing spring spacer. Thanks guys. -Dave
  4. Drained the coolent the other day. and noticed that if I was to hold the impeller, and push the motor over, the impeller would spin on the shaft. it did have some resistance, but not as much as I would have imagined. (I figured it would have been fixed myself).... Is this normal?
  5. Okay I just bought a 2005 300 TXT pro... One of the previous 2 owners decided to remove all the lights I assume. I have been looking at wiring diagrams and it seems straightforward enough to wire it back up (assuming I get the harness back)... But my main question... I have been looking at the CDI systems on this page.. http://www.trialspartsusa.com/tech.html .. I hear people talk about the "sun shine, and rain ignition settings" My bike has no such switch. Seems some bikes didnt come with it with the ducati CDI? or am I reading the chart wrong and my bike is supposed to have one?
  6. Okay... now.. is there a trick to getting the radiator out not involving removing the motor? I was just going to lift the CYL and put on the new gasket, but the area near the exaust hits the bottom of the radiator before the studs are even cleared.... I have fiddled with the radiator but the cross brace in the frame seems to get in the way as well as the exaust section of the cyl....
  7. Fine with me I dont see it as "taking over".. just adding to.... Anyone know what the easyest way to get all the coolent out of the motor is? the WP is the lowest point, do you remove the entire pump (3 allen screws) or the center tork's screw (brass colored).... I tryed removing the 3 allens but the pump doesnt seem to want to pull out of the case for some reason.. thanks for the help guys. my manuals are on the way to the house...
  8. Just gave "hard rock trials" a call in AZ. They say its the first one they ever heard of doing this... and is very insistant that I check the trueness of the gasket surface..... He also asked me which gasket I have in the bike... It should be stock, but he said there are several various choices? Can somone fill me in on the choices? what stock is etc.... I understand that they are different thicknesses and pretty much just reduce the compression resulting in different power feels.... I dont mind the power... stock or alittle more than stock wouldnt bother me, I come from a world of open class desert racing etc so handling power isnt the issue... My only concearn is if stock or alittle thinner than stock will still run fine on California 91Octane pump fuel.. since Im not feeding it race fuel.. $4.50 plus a gal is enough for me right now...
  9. Just picked up a new to me 05 Gas Gas TXT Pro 300... Few questions... I just noticed it has a blown base gasket (cyl base) on the left side... Is this common? its a VERY low milage bike still has original tires on it with decent tread left. what is involved in changing the base gasket? same as any other 2 stroke, or are there extra parts etc in there? Does the CD that comes with the bike have torque specs (dont have it with me right now or id check) if not where to I obtain torque specs for the bike (cyl nuts etc).. thanks guys -Dave
