Hi I'm new to this fourm and trials bikes so please forgive me if this is posted in the wrong section.

I've seen a 2007 250 sherco road registered looks clean from the photos is there anything to look out for and what's a good price ? I know my way round a bike but know nothing about trials bikes

Cheers

Al rite mate

2007 should be £1600ish and just check the normal things like fram and engine numbers match v5 also listen for piston slap lift the back wheel off the ground and see if there is much play as if there is a lot it means replacing the dogbone bearings also don't worry if the cluch drags a bit till it warms up it seem a common problem both mine have done it

Hope this helps

Anything is possible with a bike a few years on. You can dress a pig with new plastic.

If you don't know the bike or seller, ask them to demonstrate to you that all is well with it and tell you the maintenance history. What are their qualifications?

Even an ugly bike if well maintained should work perfectly with a good operator. Tires, wheels brakes, suspention, steering and linkage, filters, carb, chains and gears should all be covered. Any good rider knows all this and has good referances himself through this club or wotnot.

I change my oil every three days will not suffice if the rest of the bike is a POS!

If he cannot walk you through it, he dunno jack, and your money may be better spent with a local dealer of quality goods. May save you in the long run.

I was looking for the opposite actually. Found a 2009 a guy owned. He couldn't get it to run right. Never rode it much because of that. Went to look at it. Bike started and ran backward. Kick start lever broke. Clutches were stuck together. $2300 U.S. later I had a bike. One weekend of work we had it running perfectly. Just needed timing changed, clutches removed and sanded lightly. New kickstart lever. Slight jetting change. Bike starts and runs absolutely perfectly now. Been offered $3500 for it but I turned it down.
