    Ossa Id

Hi All Thanks very much for the info fellas. I am told the engine is a '74'. A few things missing, shocks, guards, bashplate and tyres are no good. The frame is painted. He wants $350 for it. Should the tank have the fork clearance if that makes sense? Cheers

    Ossa Id

Hi All I am currently looking at an Ossa to buy, it's in pieces. Firstly I can not find a frame number. I'm told the frame is a 1972 Model. Please what is the location? I have two area's of concern. Is the skid plate available anywhere? On the off chance the magneto is no good. What are my opions and how much. Cheers
  3. Thanks Chris If one needle position is too much I will remove the washer and see how that goes. The Sherco decided not to idle properly one day. So I pulled the carby apart and cleaned it, then I changed the idle jet from a 30 to a 32 which seems to have sorted the bottom of the throttle. The mid range is pinging slightly and higher is running very lean, not that I ever go there. So I am trying the needle position next. Just gave the run around the backyard, not convinced yet I will it he bike good run this Sunday. With the short run I just had the plug has a brown coating on the insulator. Regards Jamie
  4. I thought that was the case, but also thought the recess was to keep the clip in place. Thanks Verymuch. Trials09
  5. Hi Everyone Well it's raining again in sunny Melbourne, so it's a good opportunity to sort the Sherco for the upcoming event. I was adjusting the needle position on the carby and notice a small washer in bottom of the slide. So i'm guessing it most likely goes either side of the clip. Could someone please confirm where this washer belongs. I would be most grateful. Regards Trials09
  6. Yes you are correct Dave we have discusssed this prviously and you did post some pictures thankyou. The wheel base is 3" shorter. I understand that there was a factory mod were the engine was raised at the front which meant I thihk the front down tube was shortened slightly. And I am trying to work out if the M199a frame was based on this mod. Ended up selling the 349, I might regret it but I needed to clear the deck a little you how pursuasive the ministry of finance can be. Thanks woody I will check out the site. Regards Trials
  7. Thanks for the info feetup. If you could, the fork angle measurment would be grreat. Also do you mean by topped that the front suspension is fully compressed? Hi woody The frame was intended for sidecar use as it appears. I am considering restoring the frame back to standard being a M199a. I know were I can get the chrome molly tubing etc to complete the task However, you make a good point. The wheel base is about 3" shorter and on checking the clearance between the guard and down tube I believe they will miss. I sat the engine in the frame and thought this just might work. So you have me re-thinking my options. Thankyou. The alloy skid plate is missing. I know the hole spacing at back of the plate and I can work out the curve section. But could anyone help with the front two hole spacing measurment. Great forum, thankyou for your help Regards Trials09

Would someone please comfirm the correct wheel base, I have 51.7" I am also after some pictures of a bare frame, particuarly around the steering head. Montesa 349

Hello All I have just pruchased a 349 82-83 model. Silver frame and Forks, Red plastic tank and white aftermarket guards. It needs the uasual things to get it running. The rear muffler is not correct. Does anyone know where I could get one, it's the rectangular type. I have spoted a 348 but not a 349. I really need help with the Timing measurement in mm, I guessed it at 2.5 BTDC but have no idea. Also what oils are used in the clutch and gear box and quantity please. Regards Trials09
