  1. Wow! That's a beautiful piece! Titanium and carbon... I'd be interesting to have a ratio of € per gram saved.
  2. Sorry for the wait... here it is: http://www.trialscentral.com/forums/topic/47751-rev3-silencer-mod-with-carbon-fiber/
  3. Hi everyone! I bought a 2nd hand '07 rev3 250cc, and the previous owner did some mods to the bike. One of them, I guess, to lighten the silencer with carbon fiber... I haven't seen anything like it in this forum or others... maybe I missed it, but since I've been reading this forum for some time and it's been very helpful to me, I wanted to share it . I'ts a pitty I didn't think of weighting it. I wanted to have the bike ready for the weekend and rushed a bit. By the way... my English is "a bit" rusty and I'm not familiar with the names of many parts of the bike or the terminology. So I hope I can explain things at least in a understandable way. The bike was very noisy and did some loud and irregular explosions that I haven't heard to other trial bikes.... I've read here that it's common for the 270cc, but mine should be a 250cc... so I decided to clean the carburetor (the iddle stalled easily, and was irregular) and change the fiber packing. The exhaust joints looked pretty well to me. This is my first trial bike... so before doing anything I checked the manual, asked some friends, read a lot through this forum... and I finally was sure of the procedure... there should be two screws at the end of the silencer, take the black plastic yoke at the end and the inner "perforated" tube,... take out the burned fiber, fit the new one around the tube, place it inside, and close. But when I had the silencer on the table, it had lots of rivets placed along both sides and around both ends holding two metal clamps. It took me a little while to understand that the silencer was very different from the stock one. Instead of triyng to describe the mod, I'll put some pictures... sorry for teh quality, but I guess you can have an idea of what's been done: - Once disassembled, ad without the burned fiber: - Placing the new fiber: - Riveting the carbon fiber: - Before fitting to the bike: - Done (I only had left to put the bolts for the protector) To drill the rivets out without damaging the carbon fiber it took some time, also everything was sealed with some sort of black adhesive that was very very hard, and even without the rivets the black cap and the the carbon fiber wouldnt separate one from the other. Placing the new rivets again took me almost 20 minuts! Like I said, it's a pity I did not check the weight... but since this is my fisrt trial bike, and for now I just hope to be able to climb the same tracks I used to do with my enduro bike some years ago (two kids and 2 visits to the hospital in less than 6 months forced me to leave the bike aside.. and now I feel like I've never riden a bike before!), one kilos less and all this hassle is not worth it. But I wander if more experienced rides would appreciate the weight difference. Thanks!
  4. Thank you! I'd like to have the beta ready for the weekend. Yesterday I had the left subframe arm welded, and I bought new fiber packing for the silencer. Guys, nice country Belgium... I have family living in Antwerp... and I used to go there often. I never leave without tasting a Duvel...
  5. Hello to everyone! Please forgive me, I haven't practiced much English for the last 10 years... I'll try to write the best I can. I bought a 2nd hand '07 Beta Rev 3 250cc about 2 years ago, but I injured myself the very first day... and now I'm starting to take the beta outdoors, but I can't even manage to climb tracks I used to do with my enduro bike. Since it's second hand bike and I've left it in the garage for so long, there is some extra maintenance to do and some stuff to check just to get to know the bike. And for that, this forum it's being of a lot of help since there is so much information! I'm not good with tools and mechanics so I check continuously the manual and search all the info I find before even deciding if I should do it myself. Anyway... I've found some curious little mods done to my bike by the previous owner (I hope there was only one), that I haven't seen before, and I'd like to share them with y'all. I'll open a post in the Beta section as soon as I have some pictures done... but don't expect too much, it's just that I've search through the net and the forum and I haven't found any ot it. Thank you.
