Do any one know if Whitehawk frames used the following I D, letters on there frames SABTVR followed by 11 serial Nos, this is a mystery as for years this was believed to be a Hi Boy Frame but not according to Sammy he said all his frames started with SM, so do you know of any frame maker who used these letters , S M Products say it looks like one of his and so do a few people , the previous owner was under the impression it was a S M frame and he owned it for 20 years, Any help will be much appreciated . Cheers. Ps The bike has a V5 with frame No starting SABTVR.

I had "slight" play, up and down ,(none noticeable side to side)on my swinging arm and it looked like the swinging arm bearings had worn on my 98 Techno I stripped all the swinging arm and linkage down ,cleaned the bearings and bushes. They looked a little worn (not excesively though) especially the bushes. Do I really need to get new bearings and bushes for the small amount of play that there is. Or is it false economy ,and going to cause more problems somewhere else like chain/sprocket wear(which I`ve just had new) At

I have a Fantic 240 & a 301 both of which are recomended to run on 2% premix ratio, but this ratio is based on the 2 stroke oils available 20 years ago when the bikes were new. How lean can I go with the amount of modern fully synthetic oil without causing any damage?

Hi I have been thinking of purchasing a keihin pwk 28mm carb for my gas gas 125. I need some opinions on this as I dont want to spend my cash then not be impressed with it. Please could someone give me some feedback. How much difference do they make to the bottom end performance and top end performance? Are they worth the money? Many thanks Sean

Personally although I am in my mid sixties I ride the east route in local events on average about once a month, just wondered if its more common nowadays to get involved with practice/fun type things rather than comepetition?

Last Saturday I was due to take part in a local trial with the Waltham Chase club at a venue in the New Forest. I was to be riding my Beta 270 along with my lad on his TY80. On the morning of the trial, we decided to run the bikes up on my drive just to have a shake down and get my lad used to the bike again after not rideing for a while. My back brake seized and would not apply so a hurried hour spent trying to strip it and bleed it through proved fruitless so I dropped it off at Inchains in Ringwood for repair and I had resigned myself not to ride. When I was booking my lad on, I was offered a loan of a Sherco 250 as it's owner had a 'hangover from hell' and wouldn'…

My dad and a couple mates' dads who are old trials riders are getting on a bit but have thought about getting back into the sport after many years absent. They just want to ride easy clubman sections and maybe just do some observing. They have a dilema as they don't want to buy a new bike simply because they are a bit too snappy with the power, don't have modern engines & brakes & suspension and most importantly for the old fellas - there's no seat. They don't want an old bike because they're not very mechanically minded and don't want to be restoring or fixing things. The only option it seems for them is to buy an old fully restored bike which commands top doll…

The plastic fuel line on my 2014 Sherco has gone hard and yesterday I discovered a pin hole in the wall of it - with no apparent reason for it happening. I assume that it is the ethanol in the fuel. Anyone know where I can buy some good fuel hose?

Hello I am a bit of a beginner in the world of trials bikes so go easy on me please. Please could someone help before I start pulling my hair out. I have an old TY50 that will not start. It did start but it would not run for very long so I put a new plug and points and now it wont fire at all. There is a spark at the plug but barely at the points and I have been adjusting them constantly to try and get a spark. There are new points and I still cannot get a decent spark and the bike will not fire. Is the timing out and if so how do I go about setting it to the correct timing easily. Any advice would be fantastic. cheers Steve
