In this weeks T&MX news, Rappers states that he believes all trials should now go over to FIM rules. ie- one for stopping. He suggests that the "better riders" get away with shorts stops because they are feet up and in control, where as the "strugglers" who foot through a section making similar length short stops are frequently given a five. I must say his argument makes sense.... or does it? Is this what happens?

  4. Once again another gasser clutch drag problem! Sorry for a post on this topic as I’ve seen it crop up a few times already! I’ve read through everything I can find and done all the checks, new clutch pack ✔️ re bleed with mineral oil ✔️ correct adjustment on master cylinder✔️ Clutch pack measuring within tolerance (9.9)✔️ light gear oil no atf✔️ I did read about replacing seals on the slave? I don’t appear to be loosing any oil from the clutch system into the engine itself so I don’t think this is my problem but I may replace just to eliminate! Does anybody have a link to the exact parts I would need please? Other tha…

Have just bought a 2005 TXT PRO from a mate and after the first outing it would no longer start! After checking all the usual stuff I decided to get it down to the mechanics who identified that the regulator had burned out. Then the saga starts! The regulator is the Ducati Energia version 1 module fitted to the 2004 - 2005 300 pros - the one with the blue end to the connector block. Unfortunately I am struggling to get a replacement . I just got off the phone with the guys at Gas Gas Moto in Buxton who tell me that despite being on order from GasGas Es. for two months, no Version 1 regulators have yet turned up. However, they have supplied me with a Version 2 uni…

  7. Sitting in the garage soldering some wires together I thought to my self "I wonder if this would melt plastic" So I got an old sherco mudguard and cut the back bit off, I got the soldering iron and started to "fuse" both sides together, I did both sides and it seems like a good fix and seems quite strong. so if you snap your mudguard keep the bits, this way means you can have a few (slightly ugly) but working spares.

Hi, when starting the bike from cold (with choke), it starts first kick, but the revs shoot up, I have to immediately take the choke Off, and blip the throttle a couple of times and the revs slowly settle down. There are no mechanical linkage problems (throttle cable) the the carb is clean. Anyone out there help me?

Hello there, I have a B40 in trials trim and at the moment I am refurbishing it- hoping to do some pre 65 events next year so any info on this would be great. My main question is that I have been told by the previous owner that the gearbox is standard, but, apparently there is a mod that will make it more suitable for trials use, I was led to believe that this involved the gearbox internals and not just chain/sprockets, can anyone advise. Cheers Andy.

  10. Hey thanks for your input. This is my first trials but I have been riding motorcycles a long time. I am going to buy a bike this week and want to know which you think is a better bike, the 2003 sherco 290 or the 1999 Gas Gas 270.

I have a classic car that still needs lead replacement added to the fuel. I use the Castrol Lead replacement and octane booster. This got me thinking that perhaps I could use it in the Trials bike (Beta Rev3 250 and Sherco 125) I realise it will have little performance benefit But might help the bike live a bit longer. I seem to remember reading that the old 500 GP bikes lasted alot longer before they switched to unleaded. Just a thought.....Any comments I can't see that it could hurt and the Sherco is supposed to run on 98 octane anyway.

Hi I was wondering if dealers allow a test ride of bikes, prior to purchasing? I notice cambride trials centres have a couple of demo bikes. I am keen on trying a gas gas, beta and Sherco. Any help would be very much appreciated.

In Belgium the practice of off-roading is outlawed ! http://www.moniteurautomobile.be/article/legislation/tout-terrain-11851.htm# A real Belgian nonsense ! As the title states what is your preference to chain maintenance , is it soak in oil , spray lube , chain grease or spray a light oil onto chain . Or is there another method , share your maintenance tips. Keep ya feet up ! !

Evening all , as said in my intro , I used to ride a bit nearly ten years ago and used to borrow my late father inlaws pre 65 OSSA . It was a fun bike but still hard work . I have recently got back into it ( weeks ) . I bought a Yamaha TY250 and had a bit of fun and was amazed how much easier it was to ride due to the weight etc . Well , I just bought a 2007 GAS GAS TXT 280 , and boy is that a different kettle of fish again . I am amazed at how much easier the control and balance is . I am truly a convertee . Had a bit of a play and am now Sold on riding modern . The amazing thing is how much easier it was and how much more fun I was having playing around . I h…

  20. Can you all help me with a bit of advice in choosing my next bike? I've had a Rev3 250 which I probably rode less than 10 times as I spent most of my limited knowledge and time repairing it. However I did like it (nothing to compare it against though) and once I got it running right I sold it quick. A year has passed and I'm now about ready to delve back in to trials but I'm unsure what to buy... I have a budget of around £2000 give or take. My skills are very basic - I would class myself as a complete beginner and I have no intension of competing. I have always had road bikes but never really got into motocross - my friends' 250s used to frighten me to death …
