Hi all help need please, I am looking to take my 1979 sherpa 350 on long distance trials next year. 80 to 100 miles in a day. I would really like to do something about the seat as I don't think my bum will take it. Anyone changed their seat for something with more padding than the standard seat. Any ideas will greatly be received by my bottom. Thanks.

Just wondering, what do you guys and gals eat days prior an event and during an event? I load up on good carbs and fluids few days before the event, and eat small healthy snacks throughout the day of the trials. Water and something like Gatorade during, water and magnesium before. I used to eat a massive carb breakfest on the morning of the trials, but feeling a lot better with the current, lighter way of eating. I seem to struggle with cramps from time to time on the last 5-10 sections of a trials, other than that I feel pretty good. How about you guys? Always looking for new tips and tricks.

Hey! You all started somewhere... I went to the dark side (for me) and rode my first 2T ever, yesterday! It was a 2014 JTG 300. I would love to give you an impression but the fuel tap was off and after I kicked her over and rode for a minute it began to splutter so I parked it! I didn't know it had a fuel tap.... Geez!!!! Hehehe I did like the build quality on it and would probably be my choice as a first 2T.... simply knowing no better I suppose? It looked great and how strong is that swing arm (forged)!! Ok ! The question.... the owner (pretty experienced) had the lanyard on the clutch side. I put ours on the throttle side. I have had trouble reaching down for neutr…

Something to take your mind off all those engine queries for a moment. Which 1970s album title name checks the basic principle of trials? Here's a bit of the cover as a clue. Could it be Jeff Smith!

Been around trials for around 30 odd years now. Been asked all the usual question from lay people and riders a like. Why is there no seat on the bike, how do you set the suspension, etc, etc all the usual stuff that I am sure each of you have been asked. Until yesterday I thought I could at least give an approximate answer to anything trials relate thrown at me. Here is what stumped me “why is there no “4” on the score card? We can get a 0,1,2,3, and then a 5. So why not a 0,1,2,3,4, and then 5? Any ideas on how this came about and/or how would it change any trial if there was a “4” on the cards?

Ishy, You have an TRL250S sitting in the 'shed', in your opinion would that motorcycle be competitive today in the hands of most riders (i.e. clubman and excluding 'freaks' like Dougie and Fujigas)? I was always under the impression that the RTLS was way ahead of it's time.

I'm the coordinator for observers for the S.T.R.A. Nationals, rounds 1 & 2 at the Trials Training Center, April 3rd and 4th. If you will be attending, and are willing to work as an observer or a card puncher, please respond with your name and which day(s) you will be available. The Southeastern Trials Riders Association will be most grateful for your help.

I guess this is asking a bit much for a Rover 200 but would buy any chance it be able to take a 2002 Beta 250 and a TY80. Read on a recent post about a rack Bernie Schreiber had for a corvette which was for two bikes.

Being a member of the Green Mountain Plonkers Trials Club in Vermont, I have often been asked what does "plonkers" mean. Growing up as a kid in the late 60s and 70s I always understood plonkers to mean one of two things. 1) How a trials bike sounded as it crawled over rocks and obstacles and 2) The act of crawling or plonking over rocks and obstacles. Can anyone elaborate where the word derived from? Is it Spanish as in the Ossa Plonker?

Andy, it's an idea but why don't you invite the stars into the chat room. Meet the stars sort of thing. It'll make the top guys more accesible to us in the colonies.

Hi my gas gas txt 280 has got broken exhaust brackets under the middle box and is blowing a bit. Its not blowing enough to make the exhaust louder as i can tell but will the bike be losing power due to it losing gas from the middle and not the end of the exhaust pipe ? The bike as been like this since i got it so i havnt noticed any power loss myself but was just wondering if the bike would pull more or be more responsive if i fixed this problem. The bike seems fine to me but if i sort the exhaust out it might feel miles better. ? what do you lot think and is this a known problem with the gas gas (its a 2000 model) any help would be great cheers.
