Introduce Yourself

Hello All, I've just come over to trials after riding supermotos and the last year has been on an enduro bike (KTM300EXC). I've come over after I keep bashing myself up a bit on the dirt and I'm hoping that trials will provide the spills at much lower speeds (although I have broken my leg with a 10mph get-off in the past! ) I've just picked up an '06 Beta 270 Rev3 and I'll be out later on it for the 1st time. I'll be looking for tips and hints and this forum seems the ideal place to start. see you Shaun.

I am new here. I own several old trials bike. Most of them are projects. I am looking for information and parts for some of them. Here is what I have: 198? Fantic Trials Type FM403 197? Just thought I’d share this as it might help others just done oil & oil filter change on my 4RT & like others struggled to get one of the front bolts to line up on the skid plate when refitting it so I loosened the down tube bolts on the same side a little & also the long bolt that goes through the bottom see photos & it lined up so I just tightened them all a little at a time until all were secure hope this helps

I've done all kinds of two-wheeled antics and owning a trials bike has been a dream since I was 10. I'm a touch over 30 now and hoping previous injuries dont keep me from enjoying myself. I'm driving to TN. friday to pick up an 04 280 Pro from a friend. I cant even describe my excitement! I've been around two greats of the sport and many occasions during streetbike competitions and shows and it's an amazing sport just as a spectator alone. I've been riding motorcycles for a few decades now but I don't think I've ever ridden a Trials bike. I have been amazed by the things they can do and now I live in a place with lots more vertical and rocky off road scenery, I believe a Trials bike would be perfect! Before I purchase one I would like to get some recommendations. I'm much more familiar with the Big 4 Japanese marques and street bikes in general. Gas Gas, Beta, Montesa, Sherco.....very unfamiliar to me. What is reliable and easy to get parts for in the US? I'd like to get a nice used bike first. Hi all, my first trials bike turned up today (1999 Beta Techno),mad bikes all my life but my trials experience is limited to jumping on my mates gas gas jtr at work and promptly twisting the throttle wide open with the inevitable result...... Bike came from Yorkshire and jeez I could have done with a friendly face around to show me how to start it but I got there in the end my st be 30 yrs since I kick started a bike! I used to ride trials many years ago with a Honda TL 125 with a powroll 175 kit on it. It was a cool little bike all be it heavy. I love the new bikes because you do the same stuff on it we do on our bicycles. I ride bicycle trials as well. Now one thing I'd like to know and maybe I'm stupid here but in the videos I've watch of say Lampkin there's this guy yelling like an idiot to do stuff the rider is already doing. I have been on motorcycles for 40 year and trials bikes for a good share of that but in 2002 was involved in a serious streetbike accident that has left me paralized in my ankles and feet. I stopped riding trials at that time but returned to off-road riding via a KTM with a Revloc auto clutch and moving the rear brake to where the clutch lever had been. Hi folks, My name is Kev and I live in Northumberland. I've got a trail bike at the minute but I never use it and then this weekend just gone I went to my first trial (Bedlington & Distric MC) to practice my photography and I'm dying to have a go now. Before I take the plunge and sell the KTM though I want to find somewhere to get some instruction, hire a bike, do some training you know the kind of thing. Hello, really interested in buying a trials bike, I've had crossers and an enduro before when younger but now I'm 28 and haven't ridden anything in maybe 10 years. My main question is am I being unrealistic trying to get into trials biking? I'm asking this because of my age and having no experience but also because I'm not a light skinny lad anymore I'm 16 stone of pure dad body Haha! Will this hinder me or am I better off just going back to a motocross bike instead.
