Hi I am 15 years old and last month I bought a Gas Gas TXT Pro 125, I am really enjoying riding and hoping to go to a trials event next year. I am obviously just an amateur rider and this is my first bike, I have already trapped my finger between the bike falling and me stupidly trying to catch it and trapping my finger between the handlebars and a metal pole. The nail is completely black and blue and will fall off in a few months, this knocked my confidences abit but I am determined to carry on riding my bike . I ride my bike usually every day, a friend of mine is going to buy a trials bike soon and he lives on a farm so we will have alot of land to play on. We will b…

Hello, As a recycled teenager at 59yrs I have plunged back into trials bike ownership after 20yrs away. My last bikes were 1967 Bultaco Sherpa (DLG 49F I wonder if it still exists?),1974 Bultaco 350 Sherpa ( on a Q plate) and a Yamaha TY175 special ( ex Steve Goode from Welshpool) So Yesterday I purchased off EBAY a VERY nice 1976 Malcom Rathmell 348 Replica with lots of recent restoration work. I need to get a speedo ( already ordered) a rear reflector a rear number plate & a horn & get her registered (in due course)................... That will give me a few jobs to do over the next few weeks I have local clubs so will be joining in the near future BU…

Hi All, I've had a 2001 Sherco for 3 years now and never really rode it. Might have run 2 tanks of gas through it in my backyard. (must have been a good 20 minutes worth) I have a KDX and have done a few enduros, but I'm not one of the hardcore bunch. C senior midpack rider if I even finish. I own a small business, have 3 small kids, and really can't afford to whack any more trees like I did last year. I mussed up my knee last September (that's right, a year ago) and if I don't pay attention, I'm still limping around. Anyway, (Can you tell I my fingers move right along on this thing) I helped a bit setting up for the Berwick national 2 weeks ago (ok, I cut the stakes for …

Just 44 years after I last rode a trials bike, I'm thinking of having another go. Well, I'm more than thinking about it really, but SWMBO has declared "You've got to sell the boat first", which seems reasonable. Anyone want to buy a boat? My last bike was a 1966 4-speed Bultaco so for nostalgia reasons I'd like to get a Bultaco again. However I don't want something that won't be reasonably competitive, so I suspect I'll be more likely be looking for a Fantic or Yamaha TY (for Twinshock, obviously). No doubt I'll be dropping into the forum frequently, asking a zillion naive questions about bikes, clothing, trailers, techniques, clubs, practice grounds and who knows…

Hello I have been taking part in Bognor trials events first on my 1983 air cooled JCM 323 and then on my Beta zero 260. Have had a lot of fun on both bikes. This year I entered the BOGNOR REGIS Blue Beards trial for the over 40s. The venue was held at Tullecombe woods Rogate over one hundred people entered. I enter club events as a begginer adult which is the green route which for me i find Challenging. The event was 15 sections and two rounds the section I would rate as being yellow the next one up at our club so for me it was very Challenging but I had such a grate time and will enter next year thanks to all at the Bognor trials club. A good selection of pre 65 b…

Hi to all. I have an admission to make I don't own a trials bike ? I have been riding for nearly 42 years cycling, road bikes, MX,and enduro I have only ridden a trials bike once. It was a friends Fantic 125 twin shock, it put me on my backside very quickly as I remember. It was along time ago and for some reason it's started to burn me that I have missed out on a great part of motorcyling. One of my enduro riding buddies has just bought a very nice TRS and is loving it. So the plan is to learn a bit about the sport and get myself a trials bike before I am to worn out to enjoy it ? I hope to get to a couple of local events in the Ipswich area a…

Hi, Just a quick hello. Middle aged trials hero wannabe here. I have recently got back into trails after my wife bought me an 01 Sherco 2.9. I have upgraded my son, of 7, from a PW50 to a Sherco 0.5. My wife was fed up of watching us all ride round so she sold her 02 GSXR 600 and bought an 09 Beta 2t 250 Evo which has come with issues and thats why i have found your site. I am the home mechanic and its my job to keep them all running, luckily my Sherco has been a right trooper and not thrown up any issues and has enabled me to get a lot of riding time in after being put on Furlough. I'm glued to YouTube technique videos and my riding has come on leaps n …

Hi everyone Looking for some advice looking to get into trials riding as a complete novice at it. Have been road riding for a few years though. Have decided that I'd like to get a 250 having had a brief go on one. I have a budget of around £1500 for the bike itself. Is there any bikes in particular to look out for/any to avoid? Anything to look out for when buying one? Would be willing to go up in price if needed but hoping not to. Is there a big difference between the older bikes and newer? Also any other tips that may come in handy to a newbie with gear to get or anything else would be great Thanks

Eyup folks. I'm an ald fuddy duddy who had decided to give Trials a go. I used to compete in Land Rover trials before my move to a wild and wet Scotland. I miss getting mucky so have decided to have a go at motorcycle trials as a hobby Not looking to become top of the class, just to meet a like minded bunch of folks and have a laugh. I'm not new to bikes though. Been riding for 46 years. Just fancy a change. I am an engineer by trade and have a custom bike building workshop for building choppers etc. Why an I here? To learn from other peoples experience and to ask for help. Oh yes to buy a bike as well. Cant Trial without one :-) I'm loca…

Nearly new as in not yet new, rather than new a little while ago! Very keen, but I don't know a lot, and I've got couple of hurdles to overcome. I've always liked the idea of trials, particularly the long distance stuff. I've had a couple of crappy little road bikes before, been on a MX day, and been mountain biking for years, so hopefully I'll have some transferable skills, and a bit of muscle and fitness in some of the right places! Local-ish club would be Berko trials, unless anyone can recommend others within a sensible drive of North London? There is one main thing in the way: I live in a 1st/2nd story terraced flat. Had a couple of people say if I'm leaving a…

Hi One and All, I am a newbie to Trials. However, in my youth I was a motocross and enduro rider.....but that was 40 years ago. Some years ago I bought a Gas Gas 280 TXT 2000 yr model for my youngest son. He developed no interest in Trials. So the bike sat for many years in our summer home in Colorado. We sold that house and brought all our stuff back to Alvin (a community outside of Houston) recently. The bike was calling me and I began getting it ready to ride. As you all know - bikes do not like to sit - the entire front and back brake system had to be redone (thanks to Jim Snell for all of his knowledge and support and parts!!!) . Anyway, at some point …

Hi Folks The names Iain from Aberdeenshire. I have just bought a 2006 Gas Gas 250 Pro for messing about on over the winter and hopefully get into some club trails next year once I am back up to speed. I used to have a GAS Gas 320 way back in 2001 but was a bit to powerful for me at the time and I wiped myself out and have not been near one since. Anyway here is a pick of the bike.

Hi every one. I've been riding off road most my life. But have been living in bliss about my riding. I want to learn trials to help my single track riding and also learn a new sport I just picked up my first trials bike in a trade. I know little to nothing about it. Help me learn! I know it's a 2t and a gasgas... Past that... Help!

Hi all, I'm new to the forum and also new to trials riding. In fact I'm yet to try it, hence why I'm here! I'm based in North Tyneside (near Newcastle upon Tyne) and I'm looking for some advice/guidance on how to get started, local clubs, tuition, bikes, gear etc. Been road riding for about 2 years now but would love to give trials a go. Anyone that could help point me in the right direction would be greatly appreciated!
