Hi all, I live in sunny SW France and at the age of 57 have just bought my first trials bike which is a 1997 Beta 270 Techno....Well at least I think it is!! I bought it from a mate without any documentation or manual.....I was wondering whether anybody knows where I can get a manual? I have found a parts diagram on the Beta USA site but no manual as yet....The model is a Techno according to the USA site. Also if anyone knows any websites for spare parts, that would be appreciated. There seem to be lots of parts for later models but I cannot find much for older models. Anyway I'm an experienced road rider but a newbie when it comes to trials riding. On my first …

Hello All, Some may know me from KTMtalk and Thumpertalk. After "wanting one" for years and attending 4 different Endurocross races and drooling over the trials bikes... Looks like it's gonna happen. I have an appointment next week to pick up a '00 Beta REV 3 I'm really excited, hope to get to know a bunch of you fine folks here on the board.

Hi Everyone. I am seriously thinking about getting back into Trials Riding. It has been more than 30 years since I rode a Bike at all. In the mid 70's I had a Montesa cota mk1, and then an OSSA for a very brief time ending up with a Honda. Are there any clubs catering for older guys coming back? I would I guess have to start again and enter just Novice trials. How about Bikes, I don't recognise any of the names I see Montesa are still around as a 4 stroke, would it be unfair to ask which bike I should look at?, How much should I spend> I could afford a new bike but I would be happy to spend a lot less, where's the best place to buy? Sorry for so many questions a…

Ow do the names rich I'm 28 and from wakey, just wanted to say hello to the forum. Been out of the biking scene for a while due to work and family commitments but I've scraped together 2k and I am currently seeking a decent starter bike for a novice rider. My first bike way back when I was 11, was a Yamaha Ty 250 and even though it was far too big and powerful for me I had many years of fun on it . It was also by far the most reliable bike I've ever owned. Since then I've owned a few motocross bikes (all Honda ) all of which were very fun, they also cost me a bob or two in maintanance and repair . So anyway decided to go back to my roots of trials and I'm very excit…

Hi to all So, I've decided to give trials ago. It's something I've been toying with for sometime and as a friend has recently bought a bike my minds made up! I've been riding bikes on and off since I was about 8. Trial, Enduro, motocross and a little bit on the road. Also been into quads, karts, jet skis, basically anything with an engine. So, I need to make a purchase and get myself a bike......... my dilemma now is what bike to buy. Do I start off with something cheap and older, or am I going to notice the benefit as a trials novice if I go for something newer. I've been having a look around and have found a few quite varied bikes that have caught my eye. 2004 Sh…

Thought I`d better say hello , and give some very brief history. Names Liam Never rode Trials properly, used to have a TY250 when I was 19....a few years ago, 37 now. Decided to buy another bike...got a gas gas 280....and...oh my don`t they pull well and how the hell do you guys manage to do the things you do and make it look so easy. Anyway got a few simple questions, with the influx of lovely baseball cap wearing lads riding motoX on the streets.....its seems the police have took a major dislike to anything thats not on the road. With that in mind, where can people practice without fear of arrest (based in Stoke-on-Trent) And what do you have to do/have to take pa…

Hi all .... just thought I would drop in. I have been riding for along while and have always been interested in trials but have never participated. After going to an AHRMA event near here I don't know why I stayed away so long. Anyhow I have found a bike and am in the process of making it workable to practice and compete on next season so I am looking forward to that. Most of my riding experience has been enduros and trails with a little mx along time ago. Thanks Sam

Always fancied trials riding as far back as kickstart with Peter Purvis but never actually tried it. At 54 (now 57) I might be starting late but if I don't do anything too crazy I should be okay. Question is where do I ride in or near Birmingham and is there a local club? UPDATE: ive bought a Beta 250 (see pic)

Moved here from the UK back in the 80's (yeah, I know, but your only as old as you feel, lol) Used to ride trials but not much interest here so have ridden and raced MX for many years. Now I have a yearning with a couple of others to get on a trials bike again. Will probably buy new as there just aren't any used around. I raced MX on 4 strokes for the last few years as the 4 strokes really took over and wondering if it's the same in trials? Looked at Sherco , Beta GasGas and see they all have 4 strokes available, although they are quite a bit more. The last trials bike I had was a Sherpa 250T and my last MX was a YZ450F. Anyway any feedback is appreciated and maybe…

Hello all, my name's Sergio and I'm from the lake region, Northern Italy. Been reading the Trialscentral forum for quite some time now, lots and lots of interesting topics and answer. I started riding in 1988 and after a 20 years break, I started again 6 years ago, I just missed trials too much, it has always been on my mind for all those years where I was busy doing something else. Got a Vertigo Vertical 4 months ago and I compete in the lower class of the Trialario championship which is held in northern Italy. Cheers to all!

hi everone, have decided to get back into trials after 15 year break, i used to ride with the kent youth and then erith and district before joining the army sort off forced the sale off my 94 ty 250, moved into the sports bike scene whilst serving and loved every minute as was based in germany, not so fun coming back to uk speed cameras, jobsworth coppers, third world roads ect ect... So thought i'd pick up where i left off and luckily enough my dad donated me his 03 sherco 290 as he's not as young as he used to be and has decided to hang up his trials boots, I was suprised (although should'nt have been) that i'm not the aspiring dougie lampkin that i once thought i wa…

Hi I'm totally new to this site and trials riding. I live in Durham City and I recently bought a project bike. I am in the middle of doing it up with my son (he wants to be an engineer so I thought it was a good intro plus I've always hankered after a trials bike). It's a Sherco (Bultaco?) 290 Graham Jarvis replica from c2000. So far I've had the engine rebuilt by Alan Bird, Feet Up Trialsport (who seems a really nice bloke and full of knowledge). Everything else we've stripped down ourselves, cleaned up and replaced worn items (getting swinging arm bearings out was fun!). Hoping to put it all back together this weekend. Not ridden a bike off road since I was…

Hi the names Bob I'm in Somerset England , I was helping a mate at work build a bsa bantam trials bike in the workshop I finished up buying the bike taking it home and finished it off over the next few months ( about a year ago ). Bike sat in the garage looking pretty but unused until about a month ago I decided it was now or never I had to start trialing. Dropped myself in the deep end a bit, I took the bike to a local MX practice track to see if it all worked ok for a few hours mostly riding off track amongst the trees etc, any way apart from a few minor problems all went well , so the next week (nov 18th) I entered my first trial with no proper practice , just w…
