Hi, ex yorkshireman and trials rider from back in the '70's (325 bultaco), now living in the south island of new zealand. Just getting back into the off road stuff, after years of road riding. Built myself a classic style trials out of a XL 200 which had been run over by a tractor .....it was a wee bit bent !!!! but it's straightened up and morphed into a trials bike quite well .Had a few practice rides to sort out a few things with set up, and the old technique is coming back nicely. First trial in a couple of weeks, looking forward to it. Will try and put some pictures of the bike on forum.....when i've worked out how, will proberbly be in the honda section. …

Have not rode trials for about 20 odd years so should be fun . Anyone any good club recomendations in our around Notts /Derby area. Cheers Jamie

Intro. Hi, I’ve been into trials for a year and a half, started on an old gasser 250 1999, then bought a 04 Sherco 290 and rebuilt it to ride, but ended up getting a 66 plate Montesa 4RT which I ride regularly, joined SDMCC and ride practice with some great people at Poles Wood in Essex. I’m 52 and still bounce quite well.

Hi I'm returning to the world of trials..!! After mortgages - kids etc I find I've time to get back into trials after a 25+ year break. So at 47 years of age now (were has the time gone?) I'm turning to you guys for help and advise on buying a second hand bike. Budget is upto £1200 so what's my options? Are there rules and regs on two strokes or has the world gone four stroke? Told you it's been a while. Look forward to some great guidance.

Hello everybody. I am nearly 39 years old and really have the urge to start riding trials again. As a young teenage rider I first rode a clapped out Suzuki Beamish 250 with a hole in the cylinder head! I then owned a new Yamaha TY250 twin shock and later a Fantic 240. I rode most weekends and some weekdays in West Yorkshire, England. The 'Flappits' and 'Hawkstone Quarry' were my home practice grounds. I competed in several observed trilas, but did not do too well! My dad also rode and he bought a works Fantic 301 from John Lampkin (which he rode in a world round or SSDT) who lived in Silsden, near to our home. My dad was friends with close contacts of the Lampkin family.…

Hi, I just picked up a ‘78 348 Cota. It’s a bike I would have loved to own back in the day. Needs a bit of work and a few parts, but runs and shifts well. I will have a lot of questions. The first one being.. is there a Canadian source for parts and bits and pieces? Tim Victoria B.C.

Evening all! I'm gonna say i'm new here, although i did joine in October 2010 with the aim of buying a trials bike. Long story short, years back i was a half decent i guess, bike trials rider. I ended up getting into bmx which eventually took over, and then due to injuries i had to pack it in at the level i was riding, and kind of accidentally found myself racing a CBR600rr, and and R6 for a few years, and then last year a Fireblade. In 2010 in the off season, i joined here with the intention of getting a trials bike, but due to a few racer friends getting into enduro riding and MX which is great training for road racing, i got a Yam YZ250 crosser.... To my eternal re…

Evening. I'm Kevin and new to the forum. Quite long in the tooth now but enjoy getting out on my KTM on the local lanes around Llangollen. Having always fancied a trails bike, especially in my youth when funds were too tight, its now or never. Heart is saying a TY175 or Fantic ( could never afford one when they were new), head says something modern for the reliability?. There is a pay per day wooded area near me so that would be a good place to start and hopefully try some easy events - twin shock event for newbies could scratch an itch and improve my laning skills to boot? Whatever I buy, I'm hoping to buy from a fellow enthusiast and not fr…

Hello knowledgeable ones. If the gear oil is coming out grey and milky after about 6 hours use is that normal. Someone told me it could be river water that's been sucked in, or head gasket or water pump seals. I've come late to trials - the riding is tricky but the maintenance seems a minefield.

Hi, Just a brief hello from me, Brian. I'm from near Dorchester, Dorset, and ride an ageing BMW K100RS on the road. I've been thinking about replacing it with something smaller and lighter 'cos at 61 going on 62 it is getting a bit heavy. Used to follow trials as a youngster back in the mid-late 60's so may get something for a bit of Green Laneing. Anyway, I'm pleased to have found this forum, the info and responses I've read so far are encouraging. Brian
