Looks like you have a great forum here. Lots of good information and great people. A little about me. I was blessed to be raised in Southern California so was involved in the early years of MX. Lots of pros came from our area. A person could race three days a week and ride (train) the other four if you had time for maintenance. Also was involved first hand with the Camel Pro series. A neighbor was the tuner for Eddie Lawson and Teddy Davidson when they were both novices and as thy came up through the ranks on Bultacos. Ahhhh those Saturday nights at Ascot. So I have a question for you. Just how big is Trials across the pond? Just curious. The club I'm in has about 10 or 1…

Hi I'm thinking of picking up a trial bike again, my last one was a Fantic 301 so not ridden for a long time... so basically new to the sport is the best way to describe myself Is there anyone in south Cheshire who can let me know of any local meets or clubs I can join? Any advice on early GasGas bikes as that's the make I'm looking at. what to look out for, maintenance tips etc, plus any old GasGas bikes going cheap for sale you might know about (worth asking as I haven't bought a bike yet) Love to chat about bikes and such Nikki

Hi all, I'm in the Milton Keynes area and am looking to get back into trials riding after a break for over 20 years! I used to be a member of the Milton Buzzard club when they had their practice ground at Elfield Park and I owned a couple of Sherpas. I sold my last Sherpa when I started racing my Rudge in the VMCC but now I'm 50, I thought it would be a great way to keep fit!?! I popped along to the new Milton Buzzard ground last Sunday and it looks great, all I need to do know is pay my subs and find a bike. This is where I'd be really grateful of some advice. I've been looking at Sherco 290s (I guess it's a Bultaco thing) but am wondering if I should be starting with…

I've just bought a 2002 Beta Rev 3 250, and spent yesterday morning at Lincolnshire Trials Park having a play around getting acquainted with it. Loving it so far, definitely a learning curve but the only way is up ? Cheers Steve

Good evening everyone, having been absent from trials since the 90's, I decided to get back into it with classics of my era. I've plodded on a gas gas JTR recently, but decided to dig out my old Ossa. As you see she needs a total restoration job, but before I start I want to find out exactly what it is. The frame/engine numbers match suggesting a 79 TR 77 250cc. However there are a few issues. The lugs for the rear suspension look like they were cut and lowered! The front end may be wrong, check out the yokes, wheel etc. Other than that no spark, but the lump feels good. Would like to fire it up to listen to it. I've a pair of lovely gold wheels for it but is it what it s…

I am new to the trials scene, so I have some questions! What brand of bike would you guys recommend for a starter? I have road dirt bikes for most of my life( I am 36), so I am not new to riding. Most of my riding has been done in the woods. I don't have a trials dealer of any kind that is very close to me so that does not come into play. I am thinking that with the internet, and a parts manual, that parts availability should not be a issue. Another question is tire pressure. I notice that in the videos and pics that I have watched, and looked at, all the bikes are running really low air pressure. I understand the reason why, just don't know how low do they go. Th…

Hi, everybody I just found this site in the middle of searching for some Italjet Trials 250 parts. I currently own a 1981 Italjet Trials 250 in Southern Ontario, Canada. 60 miles west of Toronto. The bike was purchased by my younger brother new back in 1982. There was 6 machines in Brantford at one time I am told. My brother rode Junior trials in the Canadian Motorcycle Association for a few seasons. Then he sold the bike to me. I am wondering if anyone knows any connections with Italjet dealers? I did get some points and condensor and a flywheel tool from a dealer in the Boston Mass area a few years back. Cheers Robert

Hi, Andrew here. Just starting out in trials at the tender age of 56, and with a dodgy right arm. I've previously owned a Honda TL125 which i loved, and stupidly sold in a moment of weakness. Recently got a Montesa Cota 172 project bike to get riding again (been off bikes for 5 years due to a bad accident, not bike, or car), and then bought a basket case Mk111 Montesa Cota 243. I'm going to have lots of questions, but foremost is. How much oil goes in a cota 173? Do you have to lift the engine in the frame to undo the plug? And finally, why did Montesa put the plug in such a stupid place? I sort of get why there is no oil level provision, it's a competition bike, but it w…

Hi, have recently found a Sprite trials bike with a Triumph 500 twin. The log book has the bike as first registered November 1967 - the frame number is 606 (I think as it is pretty faint). The Triumph engine was manufactured in May 1961. From what I've read they were produced 1965 to early seventies. Does anyone have a list of the frames made, their serial numbers and year of manufacture? The bike is very well put together - looking at the last owner details, the bike has spent quite a bit a time over on the west coast of Scotland. If I can find the best section within the forum I'll post some photos, I've seen a few Sprites in the pre 1965 section, which this is no…
