hi i treated myself to (in fact got my wife to buy me ) a new ossa explorer for my 50th - overall i think it is a great concept but i have had various niggles - more importantly the gearbox has just packed up - it would seem this is not an unknown issue but understandably one that is not publicized by ossa , national importers or local dealers?! where should i go in the forums to join a discussion of this or to start a new discussion? for those that are interested i am a crap rider (hence the topic title) with 1 years experience of trials and 2 years off road experience who is mechanically quite capable

Hi all Just purchased a gas gas 280 to learn and play with. Based in Fife, Scotland. 47 years old and need to get fit! Looking for advise on all the basics; What oil/ratio? Tyre pressures, suspension setup etc. Also do not have a clue on kit, where and what to buy. I have experience of various road bikes, but no off road experience. In at the deep end!

Hi alljust want to say hi. I possibly will ask some really dumb questions but it's all part of learning about trials.

  5. Hi, my names Tom, I’m from the midlands in the UK. I used to ride at Earl Shilton ESTC in Leicester. I started riding on a JCM (which is a French brand I believe, then stepped up to a Fantic and finally a Montesa Cota 315R (99). My reason for coming back to the game is a funny one...I keep having dreams that I ride again. I’m taking that as my mind telling me to get on with it! I also watched Ross Noble do the 6 day Scottish Trial and thought I’ll give it another go. Thank for having me! Tom

Greetings, I have the trials itch but no bike as yet with which to scratch it. I'm searching but they don't come cheap, or frequently for sale here in Utah. I have a line on a late model Scorpa SY 200 but I am having a really hard time justifying the cost of $4750. On the other end of the spectrum is an 18 year old Gas Gas 2 stoke that's affordable at l$1500 obo. In between is a '03 Sherco 290 that has an asking price of $3k. I guess I'll cool it 'till I can go to an local event and see what local riders have to say. Till then I'll practice throttle control with my KLX 250 (actually a 351). So, howdy from the hot dry west!

Hi, I just picked up a ‘78 348 Cota. It’s a bike I would have loved to own back in the day. Needs a bit of work and a few parts, but runs and shifts well. I will have a lot of questions. The first one being.. is there a Canadian source for parts and bits and pieces? Tim Victoria B.C.

Hello all, I'm new to Trials Central and just wanted to say hello from Rochester, NY. I rode trials in the mid-to-late 70s as a kid, and am now thinking of getting back into the sport. I have a 13-year old son who is showing great interest in trials, and we recently went to a vintage meet near here to watch. For most of the last 20+ years, I have had a Bultaco Sherpa T 250 and a Honda TL-125 in storage in my garage. I am now working to get them back in working condition. They only need some minor work (gummed carbs, cables freed up, etc.). It's great to see the interest in vintage bikes after all these years! I hope that I can get a tip or two from the knowledgeable folk…

Why can I NEVER be happy? Started out riding (or at least TRYING to ride!) trials last year with a TY250. Too heavy, but a beautiful bike, so found a TY175. Love how light and stong it is. Until I spotted a Can-Am 350! My first bike was a Can-Am MX-1 and have a T'nt and MX bike once again. Please stop me and tell me I am an idiot. The TY is so pretty and nice. The Can-Am would look totally different than all the other bikes. And my riding skills are still in the learning/falling process, so maybe I should just have two bikes?!?! Hope my wife never finds this site! Love going slow and glad a friend talked me out of the MX dream and into trials. Have been very …

Hi I just bought an well used (maybe too well used) 2002 Beta rev3, and a van to move it around. The idea being "try it and see" I am joining the berkhamstead MCC, and will ride whenever i can. I have plenty of mid week time. Please let me know if you are anywhere near W2, or practice at Nash Mills midweek and would not mind a skill-less tagger.

Just wanted to introduce myself. Looking at getting a trials bike. Probably too old, too fat (that could be a franchise film with 200 sequels I am sure) but need to get fit and wasn't allowed one when I was a kid (Junior Kickstart for those oldies out there, might remember). Got back on a bike a few years ago after a long time learning to walk again post accident. Thought, what the hell - do it before the joints completely give out. I remember a friend that did MX, and there was always the old fat bloke at the back that was 65 and they all respected him and gave him space as he was having his fun and riding his own race. That will be me, no doubt. Work wise, I work w…

Hi I'm Roger B from London and have just bought a 1973 Bultaco Sherpa on E-bay. I intend to use it during Winter for daily commuting into central London (about 14 miles round trip) and also occasional trials. I need to register it and fit lights, speedo and a horn (Halfords bike horn?). Does anyone know where I can get a lighting kit? Also would appreciate your feedback on whether it's practical or not? I realise it won't be very comfortable but it's a short ride. Roger B

Hi, I'm Rebekah and my friend Luke (Sacramento PITS member) recommended this site. I've been street riding for 12 years and dirt biking for about four. I race (novice) both desert and woods. At 5'4 my greatest limitation is my height, but in general I do pretty well. So how did I end up here? My bf and I recently borrowed a friends Beta Evo - probably a 2011 or 2012. We've done some drills on it but I wasn't super impressed. We went to a group camp/ride weekend a week ago and Luke brought his 2021 Scorpa 300 (Factory I think). Wow - the difference felt night and day in terms of clutch ease and nimbleness. We practiced 6' circle turns, which I was able to manage …

Hi Guys, totally new to the sport. I have a RE cafe racer and a RE Himalayan, but I fancy something a little different that looks to be great fun. I’ve booked an all day trials experience in a few weeks and can’t wait. If all goes well I’ll be looking for a bike. I’ve seen the tow bar attachments for transporting the bikes. Are these adequate for transportation? It seems like a lot of weight on the tow bar... ? If so, can anyone recommend a quality brand? Thanks Guys.

Hi all been riding bikes since I was about 11 now 27 now, had sportsbikes since the age of 18 so not done anything offroad for a very long time. I have always loved watching trials vids and it just looks like so much fun seriously considering getting one in the next year I think to be honest I have kind of lost the love of road riding a little. I went up to the motorcycle live show at the start of December and got my lad (4 years old) a little Kuberg start electric trials/motocross bike for Christmas after he had a go at the show and was incredible on it, so it would be great to be able to ride with him. In my teens I was into bmx and I seem to have a freakishly good sens…
