  3. Hello All, I am new to trials but not new to bikes, I have owned and ridden an 1986 Honda XL250R since 2001 and in the last 3 years have owned a couple CBR600 F2s and a CBR600 F4i. I have just sold my nicest sport bike ('02 red/black CBR 600 F4i) so that I can get into trials. But I still ride a 1991 CBR F2 daily. I recently got a couple of project bikes, an '85 XR250R and a dirt only '86 XL250R to thrash on the trails. Looks like there are a few other Canadians on this forum but haven't seen many from BC... you wet coasters out there? I bought a 2004 Sherco 290. If anyone has any Sherco expertise or just trials newbie advice that would be great! (I am also new to 2s…

Hello Everyone I'm fairly new to trials (3 years) and new to this group so I wanted to say hi. I've always ridden bikes and have ice raced and roadraced in Southern Canada. I moved to the North in '98 so I had to adapt a bit. There aren't a lot of bikes here, and definitely no one riding trials so I have to kind of make things up as I go. I brought a WR400 with me and have added a few accessories so I could ride year round. That's great for winter, but the terrain here in summer is extremely rough, so after 10 years of summer riding in 1st gear on the clutch I decided to try a trials bike, though I've never ridden one. There are no bike shops here of course so I ordere…

Hi everyone. Just a quick intro as I am not much into talking about myself. I currently own a Ducati 1000 and a KTM 525. It has been years since my last Trials bike (TY175). My mum bought if for me when I was around 14 years old and since then I have never been without a bike or two. I am searching for a Trials bike that I can ride on weekends and when time permits, I am in the Defence Force so you could imagine between family and work there isn't a lot of time. I really like the new OSSA which I just finished reading about in the forums here but I also like the Sherco. Sad thing is here in Newcastle bike sales are dominated by MX and road bike sales so it will be a 40…

Good afternoon (or evening/morning, delete as appropriate when you read this) from a new old owner of an old ('98 Beta) trials bike. Looking forward to getting started, just sorting out the kit, club membership and a Domino slow throttle so stop the bike spitting me off the back (again). Can just about manage a wobbly track stand on the bike so a long way to go. Anyway, Hello!

I just thought I'd stick the old Reverential nose into here & introduce myself, so if I can buy anyone a drink just ask.. So here's hoping I've done the right thing, then. Turned fifty & still want to hurt myself riding those bloomin' bikes, so my mother said to me this afternoon. Doesn't have to be like that, does it? I mean, it's all about low speed skill & balance, surely? Yeah, right. I've had a fair few years in the past with the TRF (Trail Riders Fellowship for non UK folks) but got fed up with the constant confrontations with stupid people & red tape. Love the principle, hate the practicality. Had a few years competing in some of the three main …

Hi. I am a transplanted Brit who immigrated to Canada in 1974.I have been riding trials on and off for the past 45 years. Before leaving the UK I made the terrible mistake of getting rid of my Greeves Scottish early 60's X works bike. I believe it may have been Don Smiths ride at some point in his career. My present bike is a 1983 Can-Am 310 which I purchased from new. Also, along with the parts catalog and owners manual was a covering letter signed by the great Jeff Smith, who was a consultant for Can-Am at that time. I rode the Can-Am in competitive trials as a solo machine for many years before adding a Trident hack/sidecar. As the only member of my trials club (The …

Hi guys and gals who competed in the trial at Church Stretton today, hope you all got back to your vans with your bikes. for those reading this the police were in the area of the trial today checking the legality of riders machines and confiscating those not legal, ready for the crusher I guess. Something for all riders to think about with the police having the power to take away your machine!!! May be its time to move away from road trials to private land events for british sidecar champs rounds then we would not have to put our bikes in the vans to go each group.

Hi, ex yorkshireman and trials rider from back in the '70's (325 bultaco), now living in the south island of new zealand. Just getting back into the off road stuff, after years of road riding. Built myself a classic style trials out of a XL 200 which had been run over by a tractor .....it was a wee bit bent !!!! but it's straightened up and morphed into a trials bike quite well .Had a few practice rides to sort out a few things with set up, and the old technique is coming back nicely. First trial in a couple of weeks, looking forward to it. Will try and put some pictures of the bike on forum.....when i've worked out how, will proberbly be in the honda section. …

Hi All, I'm looking to get into trials riding. I've done motocross, harescrambles, desert, a wee bit of flat track and a bunch of trail riding. Also ride street bikes. Have not even been astride a trials bike before. Planning on buying something inexpensive to learn on/beat up. Any leads on a bike would be great. I'm in Northern VA about 15 minutes outside DC. Here are some gratuitous pictures for good measure so you can see my pitiful attempts at hooning around/trials-esque maneuvers on MX bikes. playing around at 13k feet in colorado and again in the rain playing on my dad's KX at croom in FL Colorado And a sequence (the rock face was steeper than…

Moved here from the UK back in the 80's (yeah, I know, but your only as old as you feel, lol) Used to ride trials but not much interest here so have ridden and raced MX for many years. Now I have a yearning with a couple of others to get on a trials bike again. Will probably buy new as there just aren't any used around. I raced MX on 4 strokes for the last few years as the 4 strokes really took over and wondering if it's the same in trials? Looked at Sherco , Beta GasGas and see they all have 4 strokes available, although they are quite a bit more. The last trials bike I had was a Sherpa 250T and my last MX was a YZ450F. Anyway any feedback is appreciated and maybe…
