  3. Thanks, would it not be easier to turn bike upside down and fill from where the oil drained? No it was not. Filled through the side pug on clutch side quite easy. Thanks
  4. I just drained the oil in my JTX 1997. funny thing is cant find where to pour the 650cc back in. Am I being stupid here or what?

    Hi all, phoned gas gas uk today & asked what oil should be used in my 97 JTX 270 He was saying use any 750ml of oil in the gearbox and any good 2stroke oil at 80-1 with the fuel. But not silkolene as it clogs up the rings. Can any one give me some oil specs for the above model please? Do I use synthetic non synthetic part synthetic 10-30 / 10-40 I live in Scotland UK Need as much info as possable Thanks............

    Thank you Jon, after much research I can say ur correct with the 1997 & the nut problem, unfortunatly the nuts have already worn away the plastic around them. So I am now looking for a new tank & tap. Thanks for the help & sorry for the above coment................ XxX

    HI all great site, Just got a 1999 JTX 270 Contact. The fuel tap when off still lets fuel through, looks like the rubber seal inside is worn and the threads slip when tightning up against the spring. It looks like a new one is needed. But there are 2 nuts & bolts holding it to the plastic fuel tank. How on earth do you undo the nuts inside the tank to renew the tap completly? It looks like it cant be done to me......... Any idears anyone? Thanks all
