  1. After way to many dnf's on the beta - ordered a new 2.9 this morning. Just sick taking the walk of shame so here's hoping the sherco is at least reliable. Hoping bike is here tomorrow.
  2. In my 8 months with the beta - lampkins are the only reason I would consider another beta. They have been 2nd to none and my concern with moving brands is finding such a good spares back up.
  3. Just one of those days bloke - if today had been the last round of the Scottish - I would feel gutted.
  4. Planning to take it to the next Scottish event and chuck a sign on it reading 'for sale - most unreliable bike ever'!!!!
  5. Yes - going new. Decided to keep the little KTM for another year meaning the money I've saved up will be spent elsewhere this week. Just waiting to see what's in stock for delivery this week.
  6. Aye - all in 5 bikes today - managed to break 3 of them - beta lost it's fan, scorpa lost it's gear lever meaning a trip to start to remove and fix - bloke I was riding round with Tam gave me a shot of his evo and i gave it back with a flat tyre - had a shot of waynes gas gas and Iain's sons sherco - both very neat bikes. Part off next years KTM fund will be spent this week.
  7. Only water I find behind casing was condensation - last stator lasted 10 weeks - I'm out once/week at max. Last stator looked new when removed with no corrosion issues. Every month I remove the flywheel but never found any crud. Seal casing using a paste type waterproof grease.
  8. Always do that - remove cover - lean bike over to the right and dry using compressed air.
  9. Was offered a shot of a scorpa 175 today - but being a borrowed bike I wanted to play it safe - all in though - it's the first 4 banger I've ridden and to tell the truth I didn't like it - just off the phone to dealer I deal with (open on a Sunday night) he's going to phone back tomorrow when he finds out what's left in stock.
  10. Out today in a club event - 1st lap - 2nd section - fan decides it's had enough - in the last 10 weeks that's 2 stators, one water pump casing and now the fan - last 4 events have seen one win and three dnf's. Now looking at getting a new bike this week - either a gas gas or a sherco. Sorry but when the beta went - it was superb but it's not knowing if it's going to last. Thanks to all who have helped and advised me on this forum but it's off to pastures new now.
  11. Fitted a 27.5 Pilot and a 145 Main Jet for a midweek trail. Air screw out 1 3/4 turns. If anything - I reckon its very slightly - might need to tweek the needle. But overall - the differance is just superb. Even on tick over - the bike sounds different. Think its not far away now.
  12. My 2007 Beta Rev 3 250 has always felt just not right at the bottom end. Couple of blokes yesterday mentioned it just dosen't sound 100% - thing sounds like it's fighting itself. Plug is slightly sooty but never had a problem with it oiling up. Generally the bike runs ok. Running the mix at 75cc of 2 stroke per 5 litres of fuel. I removed the carb yesterday, its running a 150 main, 30 pilot and the air screw was sitting at 3/4 of a turn out. Any advice on the carb settings before I start tweeking. Cheers
  13. Just off the phone to dealer - must admit - hats off for service provided. New stator and cdi in post - return parts not required - if stator is at fault - refund will be given. Will see how long it holds together this time.
  14. Had tp take the walk of shame a couple of months back due to lack of spark. New stator quickly fixed things but today again - no spark and the push back to the van. Is it unheard of that a new stator can only last a couple of months? If I'm expected to change the stator more often than the spark plug - then its time to switch brands. Will be on the phone tomorrow to the dealer who supplied the stator but after missing out on a quality day today - I've been happier! I removed the coil and tried it on a Sherco - no problems there but any other advice would be appreciated Cheers
